Or not serve at all. That woman in Florida got completely off. Their defense was that she was too pretty to go to jail and the family didn't want to go through a trial. That's BS.
I'm a guy and I'm a high school teacher. I have never messed around with kids and I never will. But I do have strong opinions about it.
Personally, I feel that if the kid is above the age of consent, it should be a whole different ball game. Punish the teacher, go ahead and put them in jail. But the kid gets the same sentence, too, then. And no way in hell females should get shorter sentences. That's bullshit.

It is not illegal to discriminate between men and women if the discrimination is based on REAL difference and not on stereotype.
For example we still have segregated bathrooms for men and women, Hooters can only hire women waitress etc etc.

So, if the judge feels that woman molesting her student is less harmful then man molesting students, and that maybe she is less likely to re-offend, etc, etc -- then the judges is free to impose a lesser sentencing within the legal guidelines.

And it would be STUPID for a judge not to take such issue into considerations and sentence everyone equally.
Judges have discretion in sentencing matters for a reason -- to differentiate cases on each ones merit.

No, it should not be shorter because of her gender. But considering that "rape" is not a good term if he performed intercourse, that should narrow down the type of crime and how long punishment is for. When a female is raped, she's not aroused. For a male to have an erection and have intercourse, that doesn't sound like an equal rape comparison. HOWEVER - Male or female adults should NOT engage in sex with minors, and the punishment for THAT should be equal.

I don't care if your a man are a woman. If you have sex or sexual contact with a minor child you should get the same in prison. I think all sex offenders are sick in the head. All the grown women and men that are out there giving it away and you have to mess with a child. They need to be castrated, because they will not change and cannot be rehabilitated.

I think the difference may be if it's consensual or not. How old the kid is and stuff like that. If you notice the male teacher gets caught because the kid told on him. The female teacher gets caught because the kid has bragged about it and an adult finds out. Either way I feel like they both should carry the same sentence.

Because unfortunately society views it different. Women as a general rule do not sure as long of sentences as men do. Women are usually sentenced to less time I believe across the board.

The courts feel that young girls will be tramatically more affected and would led to emotional problems further on in life. They're more apt to be more 'forced' into it.

Boys are more often, aware of what they're doing regarding sex.
