The sale of fighters to Pakistan has made me wonder how often the US sells weapons to other countries. What are the results of these sales and are their times when they're more frequent? Anything else you can tell me about this would also be appreciated.

It depends on the nation. The U.S. has routinely sold arms of all sorts to allies such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Egypt, Israel, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, England, Germany, and Italy to name a few, and those are just in recent years.

The Saudis, the Kuwaitis, and the Egyptians have all purchased tanks before, Japan and Taiwan have either been sold surplus ships or the technology and/or plans for them, and many nations have been equipped with U.S. built fighter and transport aircraft over the years.

The sale of weapons to different countries happens extremely frequently, and many people claim that certain transactions (such as the acquisition of the F-16s by Pakistan) are used as a way to reward nations that help support us.

If you want more information on this subject, I'd suggest looking it up at wikipedia.org or by getting a subcription to Jane's Defence Weekly at jdw.janes.com.

The united states is one of the largest weapons brokers in the entire world. They will sell weapons to most anyone, and give them to anyone who loudly proclaims anti communitst sentiment.
They have provided weapons to many of the dictators and oppressors of the prople..The arms sales business is second to none in the US of A.and props up their dollars value mightily.
I am sure you wil be appalled to note that they sold to Saddam Hussien in huge quantities when he was engaged in fighting Iran.
Massacreing Kurds and generally threatening his nieghbours.
The US has consistently shown it has no conscience in selling arms to whomever has the dollars to buy them.
And business is always booming!
