ok.....cloth is best for environment....(and some daycares will take them if your baby is alergic to disposibles) but luvs NO! (sometimes you get a good bag and sometimes you get a bad bag (where every dipy in the bag leaks....) i love pampers....(great fit) i didnt like huggies too much because they bunched up when trying to change the baby...um..... but i do like the huggies convertable for when the baby starts protesting laying down for dipy changes...(you can put them on ;like a dipey or a pull up...) and if papmers dont work for night then huggies night time

I have had the best luck with both Huggies and Pampers (my son is two). After I discovered this through trial and error (my husband was the lucky one holding him when he had a rather loose bowel, haha) Consumer Reports rated these two the best as well. I now buy only these two brands. They cost more, but they're worth it. Just ask my husband.

As for the worst, I found that many generic brands qualify. The best way to tell is if they have a looser bowel movement; then you know if you're buying the right kind. I don't use cloth, but they are the best for the environment by far. According to Oprah disposables take 200 years to break down. Daycares won't take cloth, though - they require disposable. Cloth is a lot more work, too, but a lot cheaper in the long run. But diaper rash is more of an issue because the diaper doesn't keep the moisture away from the skin like disposables do.

Pampers is wonderful but EXPENSIVE. Huggies is pretty good too, but leaves little balls of gel on the baby's bottom. Luvs is just plain terrible, plastic outside and causes diaper rash too easily. The Walmart generic isn't bad. I kept my kids in Pampers until they were over 1 year simply because if I tried to switch to cheaper ones before a year, they would get red bottoms.

I considered cloth but I worked full time and the baby went to daycare. My grandmother told me about all the fussing cloth diapers took. I would have probably still tried them had I been a stay at home mom at the time.

Actually it really depends on the baby. My sister's first daughter could only wear certain type of Pampers because she was allergic to the others. My daughter uses Huggies Premium and it is just that we get a good deal on them at Costco. I am sure it is also up to the parent if they want to use cloth diapers. They also have this new thing I saw on TV about babies being taught to use a potty when they are days old, by watching there facial expressions and schedule. I forget what is i called.

We have tried a few different ones.
Huggies- not so good at the beginning- did not come up high enough in the back to hold in the explosive breastfed baby poos.
Costco Kirkland- puffed up too much in the front after a single pee- the absorbant fibre sort of separated into chunks after a couple of pees.
Walmart Parent's Choice- great price, liked the elastic all around, but a bit too short in the back for a crawling baby- started to hang low around her bum after a few minutes of crawling. This one also had the same puffiness as the Costco ones.
Pampers Cruisers- expensive (especially here in Canada) but the best ones for our daughter in the daytime- nice and high in the back- doesn't get too puffy
Pampers BabyDry- again expensive, but the best for nighttime. Haven't had leakage overnight ever in these diapers.

Huggies were the best for my girl. She was born with Eczema and they were the only ones that did not make it worse. She will be 9 in August. The worst were Luvs. I was a stay at home mom and I did the cloth and plastic pants for about a day. It's just too much of a headache.

Best Diapers: Pampers Swaddlers and Baby-Dry

Worst Diapers: Target, Luv's and Huggies

Bet Wipes: Target and Huggies

I never tried cloth...too messy!

The best were Pampers Swaddlers (for newborns) mainly because they were stretchy and had a cut out for the umbilical cord stump until it fell off...nice because you don't have to fold down the top of the diaper like you do with other brands. The worst...Oh God. Home Harvest Brand. (Cheap store brand I bought in a pinch once when we were completely out one night, and I had very little $$ on me.) No experience with cloth diapers other than I wore them when I was an infant, but don't remember it, thankfully! :)

I always get the case of Huggies at Costco. A whole box lasts us about 3 to 4 weeks. Huggies have never let me down- although we have never had a major blow out diaper.

By way of wipes, I LOVE the Huggies Supreme wipes. They are a little thicker and they are textured so they clean better. And they aren't even that much more money.

Worst-- Huggies (leaked every time w/ my son)
Best-- Just about anything else, really like Pampers, generic OK too (better than huggies for sure)
Cloth diapers-- great for burp cloths!

Saw a "Baby Blues" comic that put the choice like this:
Pros for Cloth... better for environment, cheaper, soft on baby, etc...
Pros for Disposable... not having to put hands in toilet

I swear by Luvs.

When my daughter was 1-2 months I used the swaddlers and loved them, then I switched over to huggies after getting a couple big packs as a gift. After I ran out I decided to try Luvs. Well, i love them. They can hold an entire nights pee with no problem I have never experienced a leak or poop everywhere.

Luvs definetly the best

Huggies the worst
