I think - always thinking you'll have 'tomorrow' to say or do or be what you really want. Such an assumption can hurt you over and over, as well as those you care about. Unfortunately, often it is only in retrospect or 'looking back' that we see how good our present had been. So when someone dies, or you get some serious or nagging illness, do you realize you had never considered the possibility, so you are not ready. Scrooge is a great example of 'assuming', but he was lucky enough to learn his folly and change to being generous and thankful. An attitude of gratitude being aware of the 'present goodness' is a good antidote to taking life for granted before some tragedy opens your eyes. It is part of wisdom, to be here now but also to have an overview for your life or general direction and goal/s, but also to realize 'all is gift'. Then you see how precious and fragile is all of life including your own. Travelling to 3rd World countries also opens your eyes to how lucky you actually are, compared to at least 75% of the world's people, assuming a position of 'the working poor', so maybe you're luckier than 95%. But comparisons are always dangerous, so just 'be grateful'! Volunteering is often a good way to open your eyes also.

Not appreciating what you do have in life. Example, complaining of the pain you feel every day in your feet or back, yet not appreciating the fact that you even HAVE feet ( complained about not having shoes until I met a man with no feet, etc, etc) Focusing on the negative and putting off your dreams for another day.

When you live day to day doing nothing because you feel like you're just going to live forever or never think of dying or how short life is. Some people waste their lives on screwing, doing drugs, getting drunk, going to prison for committing crimes. It is when you waste your life or don't live as if you appreciate life.

not really appreciating it. Not doing one's job. Did you ever see that movie, called "The American President", which starred Michael Douglas? He makes a great statement near the end of it. I think you should rent it.

Inattentiveness to the opportunities every moment to be here and now, to be aware of the beauty in this moment, and to be open to acting with compassion towards others.

By not realizing life grows and there is change, there is only one constant.God. we tend to build a kind of comfort blanket around our heart and community until one item leaves.
