Not knowing where you live, I can only give your generic locations that might provide you the solitude you are seeking. Try parks, bookstores like Borders or Barnes & Noble that have cafes, museums but check with the front desk for any rules they might have, libraries that have large art books for good ideas, your backyard or even go out and sit on your roof. I don't really know where you live, but for me there are a couple of places I go to just write and be alone. One is the beach at sunset and the second is this park that is close by that has a labyrinth in it.

Depends where you are. I think there's one in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. There might be one else where in CA, too. Why don't you ask around?
