Michelangelo is one word and he painted the Sistine Chapel, not the sixteeneth!

Right, Humanism, firstly a brief definition;

Any attitude that gives priority to human endeavors, their values, capacities, worth, interests, needs, and welfare, rather than to those of the gods, the spirits, the animals, or any other non-human thing. Also, the study of the humanities. The term is frequently qualified, as in "Renaissance humanism," which is characterized by a love of the achievements of the Greco-Roman world, an optimism that humans are inherently endowed with the skills necessary to reshape the world according to their own needs, and a belief in inherent human dignity. While the Renaissance humanists did not see their enlightened self-interest as a contradiction of their Christianity, a few recent demagogues identify "secular humanism" as a tacitly atheistic preoccupation with human affairs.

Examples include, The Vitruvian Man, Leonardo da Vinci, Italian High Renaissance and Pieter Bruegel the Elder (Netherlandish, active by 1551, died 1569), The Harvesters, 1565, oil on wood panel.

That should be enough to start you off in the right direction.

With the renaissance humanism came about. Prior to the renaissance all aspects of life was run by the church and the bible. The belief was that you had to lead a certain type of life whether you wanted to or not so you would not go to hell. A prime example of this is the book The Inferno by the Italian poet Dante Alghieri which was written during the Middle Ages. During the renaissance and afterwards many peoples lives were focused on enjoying the present. There was more drinking and people took pleasure in things which were originally labeled taboo. When Michael Angelo originally painted the sixteeneth chapel he painted nude images because he believed it was beautiful (humanism) afterwards he was forced to paint clothing on the images (interferance of the church).

North renaissance - Holland and Germany - Erasm from Rotterdam - Holland, Sebastian Brant - germany. North renaissance has some differences from the classical italian. it's because of historic situation - a crisis in the social, politic, religion and economic life. Tha'ts why there was a Reformation in germany and holland. It was a kind of bottle against Church, So it's very short about North Renaissance. the Italian Renaissance began earlier - the reprasantatieves are Petrarca, Boccaccio.

I give you credit for looking for a good answer but this is sort of cheating, especially as that sounds like a question on a take home exam. Unless you forgot, "Pssst. . . . what's the answer to number 7 on the test" is still cheating.
