I am considering to become a Mary Kay consultant, but there's a lot of competition out there. did you guys still make good money?

All i have to say is you can make money at being a consultant i have done it for 3 years. All you need to remember is to be true to your self and to what Mary Kay really started this business for enriching others lives! If you put your all and your heart in to this business it will bloom like no other just remember the key is to be your self and never be something your not and never be pushy!!! I have found that is if i do warm chatter and not really ask them to do a facial or any thing but more talk to them as if i really am interested in them then i get more customers because then they feel relaxed! If you would like more info please contact your consultant or if you do not have one or no longer know where your consultant is i would be glad to help you or direct you to someone!!! I really love doing Mary Kay once i realized that is not just about the money but that is a plus!!!! and if you join Congrats sister consultant and all your other consultants are behind you!! I know i am!!!

Maybe. Go into this (like any major financial decision) with both eyes open and your emotions put away! Mary Kay is notorious for having their Directors pressure new consultants into placing a very large initial product order. You will be told that if you buy product NOW (it is always NOW, not later) you can return it later and get 90% back. That is true, however, once you have it, you will get pressure to NOT send it back because then you can't ever be a consultant again. If you think you will like direct sales, sure, purchase the starter kit for around $100. But DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT buy any inventory until you have done a few classes and decide if you like it. They will tell you, you can't sell the product if you don't have it on your shelf (or in your car). That just is not true because I have a friend who does just that! Best of luck to you!

I'm still making good money. My business has grown a lot in the past few months alone with just the aid of my website. Like I said on other answers, you get out what you put in. Work smart, not hard.

My sister is a consultant and it hasn't been easy for her but I think a lot of that is due to her not putting herself out there. It's not easy but if you really work at it, I can see how you would make the money.

If you put yourself out there and actively seek out new clients, yes you can make a great living. Me...I've made some money with it..I mainly just joined to buy all my own products at cost. lol
