12-years-old certainly isn't too young to ride the Rockin' Roller Coaster. In my opinion, it's a very mild roller coaster. Whatever happened to him must have happened right at the beginning, at the "slingshot" launching. That is definitely the most intense part of the ride. He wasn't too young to ride the coaster. And they can't make it an age limit anyway, you just have to be big enough to not slide out of any restraints. It's very sad... Disney World's my favorite place on Earth. And it makes me not want to go on that ride. I rode Mission: Space and almost passed out during take-off. It just shook me so much, and it tilts you back, so it was really intense... and then a month later a boy died on the ride. I'm not sure if I'll be going on that again either... it's surprising though, because none of Disney's attractions are really super thrill rides, with the exception of the Tower of Terror. I can't believe there's been that many deaths in three years... I can only think of 5 of them at the moment. It's all very sad, though. And it's horrible... once EMTs come, they keep the body alive until they get to the hospital, even if there's no chance for revival. No one is actually pronounced dead at Walt Disney World.

I agree with the other answers. This is a very sad situation. But there is only so much Disney can do. They warn people about the health issues that could happen. It is sad that this has been happening lately, but it won't stop me from going, or from riding the rides, you have to be cautious with this type of thing.
But still, considering how many people ride Disney's rides and how many have rode them in the past, you have to consider that there are just situations where something is going to happen that is not at the fault of Disney.

I read it. And? There are tragedies everywhere. When you consider the number of people that pass through the Disney gates on any given day, odds are that something will happen.
I have been to Disney many times and ridden just about every ride there is. I have no fear of bringing my child on anything there. Parents have to take the responsibility to make sure that their child is age appropriate.
A few years back people were gunned down in a McDonald's restaurant, I don't think people stopped goiong to McDonald's because of it.

I've been an avid roller coaster fan for years. It is sad that this like this occur, and my prayers are certainly with this young lads family. But in many cases, these things happen due to people being unaware of pre-existing medical conditions. I know that I cannot ride coasters with such force any longer simply because I may black out or worse. But then again, and even though I hate it, I visit my doctor regularly to keep an eye on what is going on with me. Many people nowadays, unfortunately, put going to the doctor on the back burner or until they are showing visible symptoms. Preventative is always better than corrective.

This is a very sad situation and my thoughts and prayers are with the family that lost their son. Unfortunately in the day and age there are rides that not everyone can ride and parks do post signs saying that people with certain conditions shouldn't ride certain rides. I'm not saying it's the family's fault or Disney it's just an unfortunate event.

Only those over 21 and under 50 with good health should ride high speed rides.If in dout , skip these rides. There are plenty of slower rides and shows to see.

This is one of my favorite rides at Disney, I've been on it hundreds of times and have only felt sick once. This won't stop me from getting on again when I go back in September.

I agree with "cat" you just shouldn't take the risk and in my opinion the boy was too young anyway.
Feel sorry for them, but I'm definitely not putting any blame on Disney.

The RRC is perfectly fine to ride. I just got back and my 7 year old rode this ride again and again. If you are in good health... RIDE. This is not a major rollercoaster. It is not rough. It is very smooth and fun. Don't be scared.

The boy had a heart condition anyway...not to downplay things, but when your number is up, it is up....
