Because in a free society you allow for free thought...unlike conservatives who tend to follow a fascist form of government where you only mimic what the dictator tells you to think.

2 reasons: First of all, the Right wing media in the US outnumbers the left by 10 to 1. Increased consolidation by the media due to deregulation has resulted in fewer people deciding what goes on the airwaves.
Never underestimate the power of the media in shaping public opinion. And don't think that the media is liberal. It isn't. NBC is owned by GE, the ninth largest defense contractor in the world.
Second, for at least 30 years, extreme conservatives, through corporate funded think tanks, have successfully attacked independent and/or left leaning institutions; the Judiciary, Academia, Journalism, and turned the public at large against them. For example, FOX News, a small insignificant media outlet has become the largest cable news network, by bashing its own industry (Fair and balanced? Give me a break!)
Don't sit there and take it!
But remember that left extremists are just as dangerous as right extremists. I just came to terms with this idea, and I am more liberal than I am conservative.

So the left can obscure and obfuscate the truth and obstruct anyone with differing opinions.
~~~~~~~~
Wake up and smell the coffee. Study after study, not to mention common sense, shows the vast majority of the mass media to be liberal.
The same DNC talking points (attacks) are repeated by the DNC controlled CBS and ABC and to a lesser extent NBC. CNN is far left. Most Major newspapers are extremist left. Even television shows, especially on NBC show left wing propaganda, like the West Wing, as entertainment.
Lefties deride FOX just because they don't continually attack Bush with dishonest hate or try to manipulate the outcome of American elections like Dan Rather.
(Interesting side-note: Yahoo spell-check says DNC should be spelled DUNC. Coincidence?)
Mired is incorrect as it denotes being bogged down as in never debating or discussing. Lively debate and discussion are the cornerstones of a healthy citizenry. If there was no discussion than we would have to rely on the benevolence of authority to always act in our best interests. I don't trust people that much, especially those that aspire to authority.
Rock Hunter, you wouldn't know a left wing if it brushed up against your lying face. Name one impartial study that concludes that the MSM is liberal? Obfuscate; that is rich coming from an enabler of those who've mastered obfuscation.
The best answer I can give you is this: they are fuzzy thinkers. I can't tell you how many times I've watched Bill O'Reilly interviewing some liberal whose viewpoints were not at all thought out. There were so many holes in their logic it was like swiss cheese.
The far Left does not have a cohesive philosophy, so they're constantly trying to cobble some disparate, often contradictory ideas together. Hence, endless and pointless discussions.
Because nobody on the left really know what exactly they're whining about most of the time. All they know is that things aren't the way they want them to be, and they don't know why they are that way, and they can't seem to find a way to fix it so they just ramble and filibuster.
what about gay marriage, abortion, flag burning and immigration by the conservatives?
Six years majority and nothing done on any of them... hahaha...
they just pull them out of the closet, dust them off and fuss about them every election so the same people come out and vote for them...
yeah... these are for a good cause and will be solved sometime in the next million years... hahaha
Because they can't figure out what they really stand for. They flip flop like John Kerry, They have no internal sense of what is right so they constantly fight about it. Or they call conservatives names.
