I am so happy. I am from North Carolina. And it feels good to have the stanley cup. People come together here in north carolina to watch hockey. All doke, unc, and nc state fans cheer for the same team. That is awsome.

Carolina and Edmonton each had 12 Canadian born players dressed for game 7 of the finals. On that basis, you could say the teams were equally Canadian.

Hockey is an international game, played in Canada, the USA, all over Europe, the former Soviet Union, and some other places, too. During the 2005-06 season, over 45% of the players who played in the NHL were born somewhere other than Canada. Only 6 of the league's 30 teams are based in Canada (Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver).

The USA is where the consumer dollars are, it's where the TV money is. Hockey needs the USA, the hockey interest that exists in America makes hockey better.

It's all about watching good entertaining hockey ... Carolina is a great team, they were fun to watch.

I don't really follow hockey, but I think it is great for the sport, because it gets more nontraditional fans more involved. Had the cup gone to Edmonton, there'd be big yawns everywhere. Hockey is so associated with Canada and the far northern US that the sport will be rejuvenated by a southern team winning it all, especially in such a basketball-oriented part of the country. It will generate a lot more interest, and also revenue, for hockey in general.

The Cup should be back up in Canada. Hockey originated in Canada and that's where all the die-hard fans live. Carolina is a basketball state not hockey.

I'm from Vancouver and could give a crap where the Cup goes. This whole "keep the Cup in Canada" nonsense is just that. I just want the best team to win as I hate flukey teams like the Oil (who were so smug during the Slats and Gretzky era...hey, you guys have won enough Cups--shut the puck up!) getting there....unless of course it's the Canucks (hee hee).

Congrats! The best team win--now start filling your rink in the regular season too as that rink is not full enough to really say your franchise is a success at the gate yet.

I am... I live in NC too, and it was so great here! I was glad that we won. I feel that we worked hard and deserved it. Now I just hope that most of our players stay for next season... It was nice to be able to cheer with all the other fans from diff. colleges. BUT, did you notice that Rod Brind'Amour was wearing an N.C. State hat at the parade at the RBC Center??? Go pack!! Do you live near/in Raleigh?? If you did did you see the NC State belltower illuminated red for the Canes?? I thought that it was pretty cool that we did that. We usually only light it up for major NC State victories and Memorial and Veterans day.

The good thing about having the Stanley Cup is for times like these when newer franchises or expansions have just as much of a chance to kiss that cup than everyone else in the league has. I think its great for whoever wins that beautiful cup!!

I think teams like Carolina should never win cups. Because then americans say ha a american team won the cup. When in fact haft the players on the team are Canadians, and Europeans.

The cup belongs in the US come on Canadian teams just sux plain and simple. Edmonton should of beat Carolina but they blowed it just like Calgary the year before. I dont think the cup is going to Canada any time soon.

The Canes deserve the cup! The South deserves the cup as well. Does that mean that 'Stormy the Pig" gets the cup for a day? I love NC, I lived in Wilmington for 9 years. Go Wolfpack!!

Who cares if the cup reside in the south or the north? Or the USA or Canada? Its about 16 teams getting in the tournament and 15 of them getting eliminated sometimes brutally and one sole survivor comes out on top.
