More then a decade ago when Quartz was introduced by the japanese watch manufacturers, Rolex and other Swiss makes joined with a battery operated watch as well. Luckily nowadays they don't do anymore in the Oyster series. It's all mechanical, either hand wound or automatic movement. There's another (dress watch) series called Cellini. The ladies models may have batteries, as this is still very common nowadays. Other big brands do batterie driven mechanics too for ladies watches.

it depends. new ones will have no battery but will automatically get their energy from the movement when you wear it. the super old ones will actually need to be wound. and some versions have one. check out wanna buy a watch on melrose in los angeles, ca. they have a bunch of vintage rolexs. i have a stainless sixties rolex that was my fathers. super sleek and modern unlike today's over the top look at me look at me. i need to wind it up to have it work. thank dad, you're the best. love your son

What model... Like most watches of that class they can either be automatic, which means they have to be worn in order to stay running, or they have a battery. In many cases however, it will be the smaller, women's styles that will have batteries because their size will not accommodate the self winding components.

Most don't have batteries, it depends on the model. Like mine as long as i wear it, it will run. When i get up in the morning it doesn't work, but then when i wear it, it will set its self.

Some but they do have watches that work just by motion. My husband got us a matching pair... I love it!
