Many of the books by Ann Rule really frighten me because they are about real serial killers. It's frightening to think there are people out there like the ones in her true crime books.

Oh, and the "Patriot Act" which basically takes away most of our constitutional rights and hands them over to a frat-boy dictator!

Non-fiction: Spies Among Us
"Fiction": The house of leaves (This book is for older readers. It is a truly intense book. A MUST READ for those who like scary books...) It is unlike any book you will ever read.
