With my fist, I waited a month (I dialated at 7 1/2 months) with my second, I waited a couple weeks. By my third and fourth, it was no time at all. However, I know friends that begin to dialate and have the baby the next day. Its so different for everyone. What ever the time frame... it will seem like too long. This is the hardest part of pregnancy -- the end when you are "ready to blow" and have to wait for the baby to decide. There are things you can do to get it moving -- I wouldn't recommend Castor oil (it gives you diarrhea and can make you really sick!) but Sex is always a fun way to get it rolling along ;)

You can be one cm dialated for weeks. But every person and pregnancy is different. Some people dialate over time and others do it all in a short amount of time. I hope for you its the later if you're already term. I know the wait can drive you insane.

Every woman is different. I was dialated to 1 for probably alteast two weeks before I dialated to a two. Then, even though I was having steady contractions I didn't start really dialating until my doctor broke my water. Then it just took a couple of hours to be fully dialated.

You can walk around 1cm for a month...or more!!! It really doesn't mean much (sorry). I would pay attention when you are closer to 3-4 and you have some effacement taking effect. Contractions are usually much harder at this point and full or hard labor begins soon after.

I was at 2-3 for the last 10 weeks. I had something wrong with my cervix. But I know it took only 5 hours to get to ten when I was in labor.

Mine changed from 1 to 2 overnight and then labor. Everyone's different. Walking is supposed to speed things up.
