Several years ago, I met a delphinium or larkspur that smelled like delicious vanilla frosting or vanilla poundcake! (I suspect delphinium). This is odd, because usually they don't smell at all. The flowers were white to off-white, but had a "pearlized" almost iridescent sheen of purplish-blue, but very faint. (It's hard to describe).

The plant was growing in the landscaping of a home I was writing an article on, but no one was around who could answer.

Ever since, I've been trying to track down WHAT particular species, hybrid, variety or cultivar this is, because I want one! :) Unfortunately, my own research has turned up nothing, and the nursery people I've asked don't know either.

Does anyone know of of a delphinium and/or larkspur that has a delicious VANILLA and/or CAKEY type fragrance? Thank you for any tips! :)

I would imagine you could ask your local florist. The should be able to answer your question for you!
