...logically and indirectly admitting that they are bisexual and just choosing not to act on it?

I am straight, I am not sexually aroused by men, and I could not choose to be gay. I am also sure that I was born this way. I, therefore, believe that homosexuality is not a choice and that people are born with or without this trait.

It seems that people who think homosexuality is a lifestyle choice must somewhere deep down think that they could choose this path for themselves, otherwise how could they project these choices onto others?

Doesn't all their hatred for gays actually stem from their own self-loathing?

dude, why can't there be more straight people like you? i don't really think that their hatred comes from their own self loathing-i'm sure in some cases, it could very well be. i think more people who hate gays comes from misinformation. when i was young, and growing up in small town in the plains-and you don't get much more bible-beltish than there-the parents honestly taught their children that gays were these monsters who hid in the bushes waiting to pounce on the next child that passed. which is total B.S. the person who molested me, was straight, got married and had kids of his own. the person who molested him was also straight, married with kids.
but then you add the people who use the bible to openly hate a group-the K.K.K did it with blacks, the Nazis with jews, etc, and that's where you get the hatred.
and for those who think that being gay is a lifestyle choice, i didn't choose to be this. i didn't decide to be gay because i was touched as a child, and if you think that way-youre the one who needs to seek help. why would anyone choose to be the subject of hate? why would anyone choose to be made to suffer just because who they love? do i think being gay is a curse? no. i think i'd be cursed if i had to be forced to marry someone i didn't love, just so that a few people could sleep easier at night.

I am straight, and never considered being anything but straight. I always assumed gays choose to be gay. Why? Not because I had any secret feelings It was because I didn’t know any different.

I also used to be homophobic. Why? No I didn’t hate gays. I hated the way people perceived them, so I didn’t want to be equated with it. I learned that it was not gays that I hated, it was the perception of gays I hated. Why should I hate someone that is gay? I have nothing to fear.

I think many people hate gays for one of three reasons:

They are just ignorant (like I used to be).
They are hiding from their feelings (as the poster suggested).
They had some bad experience with a gay person.

So, I guess I am Homoindifferent.

Straight up I was born a young black baby. Not a young gay baby I had no control over my race, or Gender. Sexual prefrence is what you want to do. To generalize all straight people that say it's a choice has nothing to do with self loathing, alot of peoples desicions on this comes from beyond themselves. Some people were raised in a church, others parents have been criticle of this subject and now is the effect is coming out. Christians getting on here beating gay people over the head with a bible or other straight people saying it's wrong or whatever. No one has a right to judge but that doens't stop anyone. A good part of that judgement comes from how someone was rasied and what they were raised to believe. I'm proud of the fact that me and my wife will create our own family, from each other no outside sources. And Rais our kids thats my ultimatel goal in life. As far as hatred is concerend, I'm cool with gay men becasue of how they interact with women. I think thats awesome!, but it seems like there is alot of contemp for me as a straight male from gay women. So F*** em and if you talk sh** I'm a talk it right back. If you don't like us we don't like yall, I'm sick of gay people trying to use that as hatred. It just like black people that use slavery as a crutch. Get over it.

There are some people who use homophobia as a means of denying their own same sex attraction. However, I believe that those who say "homosexuality is a choice" are merely using this to justify their homophobia.

I'm sorry I disagree with you. I believe homosexuality is a choice, however I am not the one to judge them. God is.
I have no hatred for gays. I have gay friends, but that doesn't mean I agree with their choice. I don't discuss their sexual preference with them nor do I lecture them on what the Bible says about homosexuality. It's their life not mine. :)

Well, I don't ever remember checking the Queer box on any questionnaire or choosing to be this way so I guess it wasn't a choice. I can't remember being any other way.
