I attended both Semi Finals and the Finals.
It was truly amazing - A World Cup of Baseball.
And like the FIFA World Cup (of which I am a big fan), there was singing, dancing, drums, horns, face painting, laughter, cheering, and tears. More emotion (non alcoholic) than I've ever seen at a Major League game (I attend more than 30 a year).
I was for Cuba. You may call them professionals - but economically poor by any standards. They played as a team and with the type of spirit associated with a high school or college team. Cuba has played in more than 30 international tournaments in the past 50 years. Amazingly, whether playing against amateurs or professionals (from the minors or the majors), they have never finished below 2nd place.
I regret that I have to wait until 2009 before the next World Baseball Classic.

At what point? In the semi-final, I was cheering for Korea over Japan, as Korea had beaten Japan at every stage so far along the way. In the final I was cheering for Cuba. I also cheered for Mexico after the USA was eliminated by Mexico, because they had played well and they had so many fans in the area.
