Rabbits are good pets, there are a few down sides, like they like to chew EVERYTHING they can get a hold of and frighten kinda easily!! But other then that they are cute, you can teach them, and litter box train them! really cool stuff! I would say get a lop, the ones with big ears. Ask you local pet store to give you advice or get some books before you purchase one!
They live for like 5-7 years so they are not a "quick pet" they will be with you for a long time!

It depends on what you want a pet for. Rabbits pretty much are just for watching and holding. They will play and run around with another rabbit, but don't do much with people. They do go to the bathroom a LOT and it smells -- it makes great fertilizer for gardens, flowers, etc. What is it that your daughter expects from a pet? If you are going to teach her about responsibility and caring for live things why not take her to the pet store and watch the animals? Having a pet is a great way to prepare your daughter for motherhood don't you think. Pets and kids are very demanding if you are going to do a good job -- Right?

It really depends on the rabbit. Rabbits can bite if they have a mean disposition. One of my friend's wife has a couple of rabbits. One of them is pretty mean, but the other one is really gentle. However, they are all messy. When I was in college, my roommate had a lap-eared rabbit. It nibbled EVERYTHING including lamp cords and carpet. It also left its droppings everywhere. You can't keep a rabbit the same way that you keep a cat. However, if you keep it in a cage and take it out each day to hold and pet it and let it get exercise, then a rabbit will make a wonderful pet.

If you properly care for them and your daughter learns how to handle them correctly most likely it will be playful. Females - especially those who are in heat/unspayed can be cranky and charge you out of their cage. If you get a bunny -- get one that is young or maybe with a litter mate and get both females. Males tend to be aggressive when paired up. I have a little boy who is four months and he is the sweetest bunny you can find here in my area. I would suggest being with a bunny for awhile in the shelter to see its personality before you take it home.

My pet bunny is awesome, he immediately became litterbox trained. They do not like pooping where they lay, don't get me wrong you will have pellets outside the box but never pee. My rabbitt is so much fun, he runs around the house and plays and chases me. They don't like hot weather so they should be kept in an inside cage during the summer. He eats all fruits and veggies and of course his bunny food. Go for it. You do have to keep up their cage though or it will begin stinking. He is loving too!

Rabbits are a great pet I have four! However if you understand that you are the one taking care of the rabbit you should be ok. I recommend that you read the articles from the websites that I have given you here. Rabbits are not affectionate like dogs or cats. They will love you on your own terms. Please make it an indoor rabbit they will bond with you much more.

I would recommend getting something else like a hamster or guinea pig. Rabbits can sometimes get aggressive. Believe me i know from personal experience. Unless you get it when it is like just weened and then try to teach it the ground rules then you might be fine.

I thought it was the most awesome idea to have a rabbit when I was 10...Until I got one. Mine was stinky, just ran around, and didnt really do much but eat.

They can be good pets if you keep them outside in a cage in mild weather or in a screen room. I had one as a child and found they can be pretty stinky if you don't keep them dry and clean constantly.
