Canada had aquired it from grave robbers and then gave it to a society in the U.S. Yep, when scientists found out that it did indeed belong to at least an Egyptian King the US gave it back to Egypt. We're not so bad after all are we?

Oh, sounds good to me. I wonder if that is the same Rameses II mummy I saw way back in 1985 at a traveling exhibition at Brigham Young University? I guess it pays to track down those provenance papers. Now we can go to Egypt to see it in its country of origin, I hope.

The Michael C. Carlos Museum at Emory University returned the mummy of Ramses I to Egypt in 2003.
The US government had very little to do with it. And the decision on the part of the Carlos Museum to return the mummy had as much to do with wishing to be able to continue doing research in Egypt as it did with proper ethical behavior and respect for Egyptian antiquities law.
While the return of Ramses I is laudable, there are other artifacts held by various museums in the US and elsewhere that were obtained under questionable circumstances at best that the Egyptians claim were stolen and that have yet to be returned.

nope we aren't.....
did you see where the British museum gave back a lot of the artifacts that they had required to its home country from which it came from?
although it would be better if we did a lot more of giving back to people things that don't belong to us......

No, we're not, really (despite our leaders' best intent to show the world otherwise).
