This was a fairly large Maple tree. The remaining trunk measures about 24 " to 28 " across. I see small sprouts still growing out of the trunk. Is this trunk dead . I hope so because it was starting to lift the corner of our shed and cost $$ to have it cut down. Thankyou.

Drill holes in the top of the trunk and fill them with ground charcoal and kerosine. Cover with alluminum foil for the summer. This will cause the stump to decompose faster.
The trunk should not grow anymore.

The trunk will not grow itself but will continue to sent up shoots. However, the roots are still alive and they will grow. I don't know how well this will work, never tried it myself; I was told that if you make big cuts in the top of the stump with an axe and pour salt into the cuts. This is supposed to kill the roots. I would try that first before going to the expense of getting the stump pulled. I hope this helps.

The trunk and roots have sustained nutrients that help it stay alive for a breif period of time after being cut. To prevent the tree from growing back at all (saplings and such) I have been told that you can paint the stump area green. This prevents the tree from growing further and it will eventually die. I doubt it has to be the color green...but the paints chemical make-up is supposed to supress the growth.

sometimes the roots just make shoots .. or little shitty trees that come up from the ground which don't seem like a big deal at first.. but eventually your one annoying tree turns into a big odd flexy grove of giant sappling looking trees... which will eventually all become more sturdy and permanant. You can buy stuff though.. it's similar to karosein.. and you put it on the stump and burn it out.. or jsut stuff to poison the stump.. available at most hardware stores.

You will have to contact a stump removal company to literally
lift the stump out of the ground. The roots will stay alive and
continue to grow untill the stump is removed. This can be
costly, but if it was already costing you money its going to
continue to cost you untill the stump is removed!

It depends on if they damaged the tree when they cut them. Normally yaes eventually a tree will grow again unless you go in and take out the root.

You can go to a farm coop and get a chemical that you can put on stumps to make sure it dies, and if your not comfortable with that try your local county extension office. Don't know if every county has one but do a little phone # search online. Good luck!

If the roots are good, yes, it will grow.

If you can afford it, have the stump pulled.
