Go straight to the hospital. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200.
Blood in your urine does not necessarily indicate anything serious, but if there is enough you can actually see it, it may be of concern. Most people don't even notice blood in their pee when it's there!
The "worst that can happen" is it could be a sign of bladder cancer, which is no big deal if you catch it early. But if you give it three months to spread throughout your body, it could mean the end of you!
Go see a doctor. It's only money!

Blood in the urine can be caused by many things. In people over 50, it can be cancer until proven otherwise.Kidney stones cause blood in the urine(hematuria), Cystitis (inflammation of the bladder) can cause hematuria and of course the urinary tract infection. If untreated, can eventually damage the kidney which can cause permanent damage, uro-sepsis, septic shock and then death. This is the worse case scenario that does occur in the elderly because most people have some access to appropriate medical care and many of them don't. When you go to the county hospital, tell the doctor that you would appreciate a more affordable antibiotic. Some medications for UTI's are very expensive. There are cheaper alternatives. In the meantime, drink cranberry juice, try Azo-Standard which helps with the pain but does nothing for the cure. it also turns the urine orange which is not harmful. You need to see a doctor. Call around. There might be a free clinic or one that charges on a sliding scale. ER's are extremely expensive. Good luck. Lots of water.

Blood in your urine can result from some (usually pretty bad) bladder infections. You do need some treatment.
Until you get to a doctor, you can try taking 1 cup of cranberry juice every hour. There is something about cranberry juice that causes it to really help in kidney and bladder infections. If I remember correctly, the chemicals in it inhibit the bacteria from adhering to the body tissues of the urinary tract.
Cranberry juice is not the same thing as cranberry juice cocktail.
The sugar in the juice cocktails encourages bacterial growth ( exactly the opposite of what you want).
There are also cranberry capsules. I have not tried these, but have heard they work well.
I have had good enough success ( when necessary) with even the cranberry juice cocktails, but would not advise another person to skip a doctor visit. Infections can become very serious.
Once you get through this, you might consider limiting your caffiene and cola and soda intake, increasing your water intake, and on a regular basis, drinking cranberry juice ( even the cocktail) just to keep the bacteria in check. Yogurt intake is supposed to be helpful too.
Good maintenance and natural health practices can prevent many annoying problems and potentially recurring like this.
Good Luck. Bladder infections can be very very painful.

I would go to the MD and get a prescription. An Rx for a UTI is not very expensive. When blood is involved, it's never healthy to prolong whatever the cause of it is... As well, it may be worse than a UTI. I know a UTI burns, but I didn't know that it bleeds. It could be worse. Go to a doctor.

Drink lots of water. Like a cup every 5 minutes. Get cranberry juice (not diet) and drink tons of it...as much as you can without throwing up. You might be able to find cranberry pills. Keep drinking. YOu will have to sit on the toilet constantly. Is this really better than the hospital?

You may also have kidney stones.. The hospital is not allowed to refuse you treatment just because you don't have insurance.. Go to the emergency room asap...It will not get better on it's own..
