Don't get lost and yes it is a big world but the easiest way to find daycare provides is to start a your local school district. If you inquire at the school district the will usually direct you to the grade school or kindergarten. Remember that childcare is an industry providing a service and the childcare facilities often times receive their kids from daycare that provides infant care and know the better ones. The other source that is dependable is through a network of friends that have been there and have expierence from their children when they were younger. I for one would caution you from using the internet without investigating thouroughly the facility and its credentials prior to leaving my child.

Depending on where you're at, I recommend Craigslist.org. Most metropolitan areas have it. But always make sure that you check out references thouroughly before leaving your kids with someone that you don't know very well. You can also go through nanny providers - just google for those. They do all the hard work of screening for you so that all you have to worry about is finding someone who's a good fit for your family.

I just did that last week! Go onto a YMCA website and they have a section where you can get childcare referrals in your neighborhood. They email a list to you that same day....but be careful, it went to my bulk folder. They even have a number to call and check the care providers license and see if there have been any complaints or what have you's.

google search your towns name and childcare and you should come up with a list. The local phone book is a good place to look too. alot of the centers have websites. the newspaper classifieds may also have listings for in home providers.

do yourself a favor, ask everyone you know who they use or have used and get their opinions on these people. I went through your problem , and it took me a year+ to find someone I felt comfortable with..with your child it is a ZERO tolerance policy, so meet with potentials and TRUST YOU GUT!!

best thing to do is ask your obgyn or other doctor who they would recommend. Who would they take their kids to, locally?
