If you're trying to time it, you're using the rhythm method, which has around a 25% failure rate because ovulation cycles are not always exact. Even stress affects the cycle.

The pull out method also has about a 25% failure rate because there are some sperm in the pre ejaculate fluid.

Try and use a condom and have her get on the pill. It's still not 100%, but it's a lot more safe, along with lessening the chance for STDs.

First of all, don't listen to a man on this subject. How exactly would they know?

Second, there are so many things involved in a womans cycle and every woman is different so the only way to know for sure when would be a good time is if she is taking her temperature every day and charting her cycle.

Third, the pull out method is very UNRELIABLE since sperm are present in pre-ejaculate fluid and you can get a girl pregnant even if you don't ejaculate at all (in or out of her). Plus, you are not protecting yourself or her from sexually transmitted diseases that way.

Do everybody a favor and either go buy some condoms or, better yet, abstain.

The pull out method does not work at all- trust me my friend has twins because of the pull out method. The time when she is least fertile is right around the time of her period. During that time no egg is traveling down the fallopian tubes to fertilze.Transversally, she is most fertile about two weeks after the start of her last period- that is when she is ovulating. But warning- unless she is really regular, this can be very hard to predict. Also, sperm can survive three days in the woman, making even harder to avoid a pregnancy.

I am a mother of 2, I am 22 years old. I know all about this question. First of all a woman ovulates 10 to 14 days from the first day of her period. So ask her what day her period starts, and you know anywhere around 2 weeks from then, STAY AWAY! Lol
The sperm will also survive 72 hour from the time it was ejaculated. About the pull out method, if you are around the ovulation time, it does not work. My personal experiance can prove it, my second child came from that. Good luck...:)

The pull out method worked for me and my husband for 7 months, after that I got so frustrated that I decided to go on birth control pills. Any kind of birth control would be the best for you guys, but if you don't want to use any, use this at your own risk, ask her to get to know her body so she knows exactly when she ovulates, I have always thought that having sex any time before ovulation is risky, but not after, wait about 72hrs, after her egg has been released, the egg in a woman lasts for about 24hrs, if the egg is not fertilized during that time it desintegrates so it is safe to have unprotected sex. But really, birth control will prevent lots of headaches and worries!!
