Athena (Greek goddess of knowledge) and Alexis (I just like this name.) Stear clear of: Eunice and other geeky names like that that brand the girl a nerd, and names that are hard to live up to or that will make the girl feel bad (If she doesn't have a boyfriend, she wouldn't want to be named Aphrodite or Venus, and no one wants to be named Jesus.) Also, names like Taylor or Kendall aren't good names because both boys and girls have them, and some kids in her class may not know by just looking at her name. (I once didn't invite a girl named Kendall to my birthday party because I thought she was a boy when I saw her name on my class list for the upcoming year.)

Choose a name that reflects your beliefs. I chose Sarah Elizabeth for our daughter because they're both Biblical names (Sarah means "princess" and Elizabeth means "God is my oath/sustenance") and it sounded great. My wife Martha hadn't really thought about what to name our baby, and her family really liked the name I came up with.

(If our child had been a boy, by the way, he would have been Philip Robert -- Philip for the evangelist in Acts and Robert for her father, my father, and my brother.)

You don't have to worry about naming your baby for anybody -- after all, she will be YOUR child, but I advise choosing a spelling and pronunciation for her name that's common usage. Too many parents who seem more interested in being trendy than being practical choose to give their babies names that stand out rather than their characters. ("Mykl" pronounced "Michael"?)

Congratulations on your coming child, a special gift from God!

depends on how many syllables are in your last name. If you have a short last name choose a longer name. If you have a long last name a short first name is best. My favourites are Victoria, Keandra, Madison (although lately everyone's naming their girl Madison), Kayla and Ava. Good luck!

I like the names Beth, Grace, Hayley, and Rebecca. You can also buy a book of baby names available at almost all book stores.

I tend to like more traditional names, so if you're looking for something unusual, I probably won't be much help. Here are my suggestions:

Sophia
Olivia
Elaine
Elise
Lynette
Marie
Emily
Shelby

Hope that something in there looks good to you or gives you some more ideas. Good Luck with the little one!

I had a name picked out for my Daddys Little Girl and she never arrived. Instead I go three very fine looking boys. I would have named her "Amanda Marie " and dads nick for her would have been Mandy or Manders. Its feminine and cute for a little girl I think. I will never have one now.
