I'm a huge white sox fan. I live in chicago. The chicago Cubs are putting a bad name on our great city don't you think? If it wern't for the Sox victory in the 2005 World Series then we probably would have a bad reputation for baseball in our city. That do you think?

Im not agreeing with the injuries thing. I mean 2 Men don't hold their team up. I think its the players all together, they all nearly suck on the cubs. Now you look at the whitesox and you got J Dye, Scott P., Joe Crede and evryone else. No player on Our team is weak. Also One major factor contributing to the cubs losses are their fans! As long as the cubs have your support they don't care if they win or loose. You all party too much over their at wriggly! thats the problem. Befor the sox won the world series, our stands were never full! Cubs fans should start showing more respect for the game instead of the party! you all might win a little more. When fans stop showing up they have to do something to get the crowd back. or that money jumpin out of wriggly and into the lake. well???

The Cubs do not play well for 3 reasons

1. Injuries-Every year the Cubs manage to injure at least 5 of their key players. Often it's the same players who are injured year after year.

2. Poor coaching-Dusty Baker needs to be more aggressive on making his team play better. Thats really all I can say.

3. Poor offseasons-The Cubs year after year do nothing during the offseason leaving them with the same injured players. They need to start being aggressive in the offseason and get the talent they need.

But think about it this way also. The Sox have gotten pretty lucky with some players. Nobody knew going into this season that Jim Thome would start cranking them like he did 10 years ago. Nobody knew that Jermaine Dye would be playing like this now when the White Sox first got him. Nobody thought before last year that Jon Garland was capable of winning 20 games. Or that Jose Contreras would finally start pitching like the way he pitched while he lived in Cuba. That is why the White Sox are good. They have somehow managed to turn players that were not meant to be stars into stars.

The Sox have better player in all aspects of the game right now. The Cubs have been hurting due to injuries all year. Besides Prior and Woods annual trips to the DL Being with out D. Lee their best offensive player has hurt alot. Not to mention Pierre being a huge free agent bust thus far. Getting D. Lee back can only help the Offense bringing some power to the lineup that was virtually gone w/o him. His presence can only help Ramirez their only other real threat with the bat, he has been without protection in the lineup virtually all year long. The Sox have a great lineup offensively and one of baseballs better pitching staffs. Ozzie is a great manager as well. You pretty much can expect the Cubs to blow it late in the year every year. I think that reputation has been around a long time so the continuation of that isn't hurting at all.

No bad reputation. The Cubs are the "lovable losers" and have been for years. I've been to Wrigley many times and win or lose, it's a neat atmosphere and they still draw big crowds. The problem isn't manager or coaches. Like any team, when your pitching goes south or is allowed to sign with other teams, as has happened the last couple years, then you have problems. Look at the White Sox and even the Tigers pitching. It's great.

Im also a huge Sox fan and Im pretty sure Cubs arent putting a bad name on our city. However, I do think that their ownership is exposing their fans for how little knowledge of baseball or sports in general they actually have. Any cubs fan always brags about how they are all more loyal die hard fans because they support the team even when they are losing. Doing things like spending money on your favorite team even if they are losing just tells ownership they dont need to field a winner. So thats what the tribune company chose to do.

in preserving with whoever suggested Cubs followers look Packers followers that's only ridiculous... The Bears followers i'd say extra are Cubs followers because the Cubs have a higher fanbase, there are nevertheless a good number of Bears followers that are White Sox followers, besides the undeniable fact that the Cubs proceed to entice extra followers to the park on a commonplace foundation, and provided that maximum folk of Chicago are Bears followers i will bypass with extra are Cubs followers only depending on the popularity of the Cubs.

I think the city of Chicago is one of the greatest baseball cities in the US. Where else can you have a team that has such a deep history in coming up short, and yet you sell out EVERY game?

Injuries are a big part of the Cubs woes...but inconsistency plays a major role too. And when you have so much tied up in 2 pitchers, who have yet to combine to have 40 starts in the last 3 years...it catches up to you.

Maddux & Zambrano can't do it alone. Pitching & defense win championships...and with the exception of Lee and Pierre, defensively, they are not a good team.

The Cubs are not giving the city a bad name. If anything, it is Ozzie Guillen's offensive comments that are hurting baseball in Chicago. As a MLB manager and public figure, he should know that he must be civil and appropriate when addressing the media. He simply has no sense of decorum. I am surprised he has not been suspended or fined, or both, for his behavior.

Both hitting and pitching and injuries on the Cubs are doing bad. They just need to get their act together now that D Lee's back.
