Absent some shirt or tie with both blue and black, can you wear black shoes with blue pants. Are brown shoes a better choice?

I personally think blue and black go along good. Blue and brown is just blah.

Black is a good colour because it goes with just about anything. The main rule is do not wear black shoes with a brown suit and do not wear a brown shoes with a black suit.

If your wearing a lighter color shirt, you should wear brown shoes, and a matching belt, but for darker shirts, you should wear black shoes with a matching belt, and that should look fine with dark blue slacks. If you're still unsure, try them both on in a full length mirror and then pick the best looking combination. Good Luck!

Black goes best with navy or dark blue, if it's light blue wear a brown shoe.

Okay. With a blue suit? I'd go with black shoes over brown - but that's just me. I know that brown and blue are supposed to go"ok" with one anther these days, but I just can't take that combination...
Blue pants? Black shoes. - Best bet - I promise.

Black is fine as long as you wear a black belt... the shoes and belt ALWAYS have to match. If you want to look stupid wear a brown belt with black shoes, can't do it!

absolutely. a black shoe is universal but a brown shoe would go well too. If you are wearing a coat, go with black, if not go with brown (to me it's more casual).

If you don't have black in the outfit then don't wear black shoes. If you absolutly have to wear either black, or brown.... then I would say black is better. If you can try to coordinate your shoes to match your clothing it looks so much better.
