Aaaah Drew beat me to the "punch" but I agree with him the: Elephant, probably next would be the Hippo. I mean these bad mama jamas don't take anything from the other animals. Just because the lion has this bone chilling roar doesn't mean much when Mrs. Elephant is protecting that baby calf (am I redundant) and Mr. Strong Lion cringes like a scared chicken, it's the Elephant that deserves KING OF THE JUNGLE!!!!!!

Lions do not live in the jungle, they were labeled as "King" because they hold their head high much like a European king, and because of the way their manes resembled the collars of the robes of European Kings. They were named "King of the jungle" by European explorers who witnessed the lions during trips to Africa in the times of European imperialism.
To answer the question, the mosquito deserves the title "King." This is because of the threat that it poses to most other animals that live in the jungle. The threat that it poses is the fact that it is responsible for most of the spread of diseases that are spread through bodily fluids(blood, saliva, etc). Therefore, it is the cause of many of the disease related deaths in the jungle.

The king of the jungle would be a tiger. Lions do not live in jungles, they live and feed on open plains. Have you actually seen a tiger stalk its prey in the jungle? Amazing!!

hmmmmmmmmmm. I think King Kong rules( hence the King part), or George of the Jungle. WHAT THE HECK? The lion isn't scared of the mouse!? The lion wants to EAT the mouse, the ELEPHANT is scared of the mouse!

As a Leo I'm a bit put off that you think the lion is over rated...However I have to say the Elephant, due to the fact that this creature is amazingly social, can bring down ANY other beast including a lion. The only threat to this animal is man. I think Gaia will have her way though before they become completely extinct!

Lions live in savannah grasslands as well as elephants, giraffes and such. I think the "king of the jungle" title should go to the snake. Smaller than lions but nevertheless deadly.

First there is a very old mistake: lions DO NOT live in jungles, they inhabit prairies. This name was given in XVIII century when British explorers and hunters forged this legend. Lions live on open fields because their behaviour in feeding needs a good coordination due to eyesight, which obviously is not possible in jungles. They hunt in prides, not lone hunting.

the lion is the King of Beasts..i saw a national geographic special on them where they preyed on elephants..i also read plenty of times that if a male lion and a male tiger had a fight the lion would win because it is more courageous..But lions live in prides..As for a solo animal, it would be the tiger..I've seen a fight between a very large croc anda tiger and the tiger won..They also attack elephants and bears..The jaguar is ruthless also..Although a mountain lion is said to be able to defeat a jaguar

Do you somewhat imagine the king of the jungle would die out earlier each and absolutely everyone else? Hippos are noticeably fierce, the croc's do not even mess with them... so possibly Hippos. Vultures will be the merely right run out of something to eat. yet i'd imagine a land/sky animal with larger variety would rule better because the hippos are somewhat remoted. i'm gonna flow with hyenas.

That really depends on the region your in, for instants a Tiger is king in India, parts of China and other near by areas.
The Grizzly bear is king in North America, as the snow Leopard is king in Japan. The Komodo Dragon is king in the Galapagos Islands.
In other words, the top predator in the region or area is king of it's domain.
