i wouldn't expect any specific answer. What is the point of asking a question when your expectations have already formed its answer in your mind? I would simply ask the question- completely open-minded... or i wouldn't ask the question at all.

WOW, This is a great question. You know what I think lon2233 answer is pretty great. I have that same question for God, I have many questions for him, but you know what he may not answer them all now, but he will, I believe when I meet him some day. Or maybe he will allow us to understand, and not need to tell the answer to the question we had. Better yet, maybe by the time we meet him these question we have for him won't even be on our minds. They will no long be a concern to us, for we will be in a better place. God answer in his own time in his own way, when he feel it is the right time to answer all our question. I don't think God doesn't want us not to ask question, but I do think that he never wants us to question his authority.

I ask God questions all the time. His anwer varies, but one thing for sure, it isn't what you expected it to be. He knows his plan and no matter what you think you want or need, it may not agree with what he knows you really need or truly want. If I could ask him just one question and get an answer, I would ask "Why did you give us free will?"

I would expect that any answer God would give me to a question I've asked would always be: "Because I love you and want only what is best for you. And although I've given you free-will to do what you wish, I will always love you even if you choose to do anything against My Commandments".

I would expect God would answer yes if I asked Him if He loves me.

In all monotheist religions, God answers in simple analogies and sentences that are subject to self interpretation. So, if you ask God a question, he would answer with a thought to make you analyze, reason, and make the correct decision.
