It urks when people ask questions like "do black people like this, and do white people like that" Why don't we just judge people as individuals?

Because they are pathetically narrow minded

Respectfully speaking, there was a time when I thought it might be one day possible for everyone to blend in as 'one' instead of being a nation divided. But I will be quite surprised if that goal is ever even neared, let alone achieved. All people have prejudices, though few will think it applies to them. Whites have prejudices against darker skin tones, some admit it, some will never do so, but their actions may betray them. But black people also have apprehensions (at the very least) about white people and that shows through too. The two peoples are like two identical magnets, both made out of the same meterial and the same size, but facing each other positive pole to positive pole, negative pole to negative pole, so the magnet is pushing away, rather than coming together. Culturally we can't seem to get the magnets in the right position.

I have recently begun to want to understand everything cultures. I am uneducated as far as the issues between races. I think your question is a great question, people should stand up for one another and not just a race. I agree with VanWinkle what he says unfortunately is true but I think if more people were open minded like some people that have commented the world would indeed be a better place. Good Luck to all

I think it's probably because we are somewhat superficial. We look at the outside of a person first. Therefore, we see the "black" or "white" of a person first. There is an element of different cultures loosely based on "race", but the lines between them are smearing and smudging in our day and age. Most people don't take time to get to know another person closely enough to judge them as an individual. It's sad, but it's true.

There's still a acceptance problem some ignorant people have. I understand. Case and point, someone white asked me if all of my kind knew how to cook soul food. EVERYONE CAN COOK SOUL FOOD, if they can cook. However, people still judge books by covers! Sad but true

Some stereotypes are pretty consistent and hard to ignore but I agree with you that we should judge people as individuals.

Some people are superficial, judgemental and lazy. And it is too bad that they do this, as they miss out on opportunities to meet new friends.
