I would think pretty unlikely as the filing fee is likely at least $65.00 depending on where you live. He may turn you over to a collection company though and once they tack on months of finance charges and other fees, if your balance gets above $500.00 they will likely sue. Just pay it. It is only $200.00.

I got a bill from a lawyer for $10 because the services he charged me for were slightly higher than he expected. I keep meaning to pay it, but I'm forgetful and he hasn't said anything about it in 2 1/2 years.
On the other hand, $200 is a lot more and your dentist probably won't mind calling a debt collection service who could do a lot more damage to you (via your credit) than $200 in the long run.
My suggestion: pay up!

I used to work for an insurance company, and had to deal with this sort of issue all the time.
Chances are, if you don't pay it they'll sell your account to a collections agency and your credit will be affected negatively. If you don't already have bad credit, trust me when I say that your credit rating is worth way more than $200.
If you're having financial problems, many doctors are willing to extend payment plans - you might want to call and see if you can pay $10 a week or so until it's paid off.

If you don't pay, the dentist will send your account to a collection agency, and then they will hound you. Probably until you die. Or pay up. Whichever comes first.
Have you tried offering a payment plan? Say $50 a month, or something? They'd probably go for that.
Incidentally, most medical practices have a notice somewhere that points out that the patient is responsible to know what his or her policy does or does not cover.

It's likely it will go to collection agency.
Why not pay it? Didn't he perform a service to you?
Are you fine now because of it?
Don't ding your credit over something like a cheap $200 dental bill. $200 bucks isn't $2000. You can pay that in no time.

Hey, were you the one who asked for: "Can my dentist sue me because my insurance won't pay for it?" My guess probably he wouldn't care and let you go. Dentists are smart people (they are nice too sometimes because they've spent too much time on the library). So because they are nice and smart, they wouldn't want to deal with cops, lawyers, attorneys, lenghty process, etc. My take: RUN FOR YOUR LIFE! And my guess you're still 17 or 18 year old, they wouldn't take the money from you.

He will turn it over to a collection agency. If you think you were charged and the services not good, then contact the Better Business Bureau. They have mediators.

Regardless of whether or not you are going to be sued, shouldn't you pay for services that were provided to you in good faith? I think most people would agree that the answer is "yes."

Slim to none. He will probably put it on your credit report and turn it over to a collections agency.
