you really should talk to your OBGYN about this if your are experiencing this much angst over it. It's not good for you or the baby. My doc put me on a safe antianxiety med while I was pregnant. That could be a possibility for u, and there is no shame in it. Also, try some prenatal yoga. You'd be surprised at how much it really helps. You're 3 year old can even do it with you.

I did this three times with my boys and as a father, participated in the ultrasounds, checkups and even the c-sections and the excitement with each was the same intensity yet different. I have one 3, 5 and 24 years old. Congratulations on your second, you are a trooper. It is different each doctor visit for the simple reason that they are different people you have with each pregnancy. The only like item with my sons is that each one of them were 10 lbs + in birthweight. Everything else was different from the first heartbeat, to size of head, to hair, attributes and the youngest took my heart away as he and I spent his first 72 hours of life in infant icu. His blood sugar did not come up in the first 60 seconds of birth and as per hospital policy he was assigned to the ICU for stabilization. It was the longest 72 hours of my life and their is a pic of us on my 360 page. He had some heridetary exzcematic skin conditions about 10 weeks that led to another almost 10 months to get under control. Be patient and enjoy your child while you are one with it. Remember everything that you feel or put yourself through whether it is real or not your baby goes with you. It is important to remember that calmness will be a factor in the babys development throughout your pregnancy and everything that you do will affect it. Anything you do just ask yourself if this is really necessary and would I want my baby to be like this. Essentially when you get excited the baby has no choice as you guys are one and the same until the umbilical chord is severed and then the baby will be its own person. Do you know yet whether boy or girl? That is usually a happy time and ultrasound. Promote the good and Happy and minimize the negative and upset for the good of your child and remember that everything is going to be alright, I promise. Enjoy your gift and revel in its perfectness. God bless you and congrats.

Take a DEEP breath. The baby will come when it wants to. By being so anxious your forgetting that this is the only time this child will be so close to you. Other calming strategies you can try that can get your hubby involved around back and neck rubs. It'll help with any stress tension as well as give you a "breather". Certain teas you can drink are calming also certian scents like lavendar and jasmine are very calming. Live in the moment because when that baby comes things are going to be very different.
