i have chosen to paint the tree in my garden. My father does not know, yet. Anyway i have chosen purple because the world should be purple for no reason. But is that really a great colour?

Why not leave it tree-colored?

Being that it's your father's tree and obviously painting it would get a nice reaction out of him... i think you should definitely go with the obvious and paint the tree green and the leaves brown. it's completely unexpected and if anything would get the whole "WTF" factor that you're looking to gain through doing so by painting the tree. Don't get me wrong, Purple is a WONDERFUL color, but it's been done before. if i were to walk down the street and amongst the regular trees saw a purple one it'd catch my attention for a minute or two, i'd then sum up the reason for the purple as an artistic expression and continue on my merry way. now if i saw a tree in which the leaves were brown, but not dead, and the bark of the tree was the bright bold green that the leaves should be i think that'd get me to stop do a double take, approach it futher to get a closer look as to WHY it's backwards, realize it's paint, wonder who the hell would paint a tree inverted colors, then wonder why someone would paint a tree in the first place, laugh, stop laughing and wish i came up with the idea first, and then see if i could get a good picture of it on my camera phone before i go on my merry way because no one i know would believe me if i told them that i saw a tree that was painted in opposite colors.....

but then again that's just me....

i'll tell ya what though... when u do decide what color you will actually paint your tree please do keep in touch and update me on that progress and the reaction of your Daddy as well. i'd be more than happy to hear that experience.

Thx. (^_^)

By the way what color were you planning on painting the cat?

I used to work in the gardening sector, and be prepared for the tree to die if you do actually paint the trunk, branches and or leaves as some trees do not take well to there trunk painted as they can react like humans to pain on the skin, we breath both through our skin and our mouths/ nose a tree can often have problems the same way.

but if you do paint then if you like purple, and the tre is owned by you then paint it. but if your living at home with yoru parents then you must have permission to paint it or else your parents could object and have you done for criminal damage or the like.

so be careful.

I love the fact that people think you're going to paint on the actual tree, not paint it onto some canvas / paper! Like in Mr. Silly when he painted all the leaves green because all the trees in Nonsenseland are normally red!
lol

Use clear paint so that the real beauty of the tree can still be seen. Purple would just cover it up.

Why would you paint the tree? First of all the paint can harm the tree - by painting it you would be sealing in any harmful insects or diseases that could kill the tree. Most paint now days wouldn't kill the tree but the insects and diseases could. Don't paint the tree - leave it the color nature intended.

I agree that purple is a wonderful color. Perhaps, though, you should save the tree, and paint YOURSELF purple. That would be really cool. Or dye your hair purple. I think your dad would like that.

Oh, please don't paint it any color. Trees are tree-colored for a reason. If you want color, plant some flowers or paint a rock or something that isn't alive. Actually, a purple rock would be great. But leave the tree paint-free.

If you are a nature lover dont you know that the tree will die because the chemicals in paint will seep through the trunk and eventually the tree will die .

I think you should paint the tree green for a more natural look.
