The reasons soccer is fast becoming the most popular sport the world has ever known:
1. The rules are increadibly simply - anybody can understand them.
2. Playing football requires nothing more than a ball - therefore football matches are easy to organize... Where as organizing a cricket match (for example) requires a few humdred pounds worth of hardware and a biliard-table-flat strip of turf
3. Football's scoring system offers the most valuable currency of all sports. Ie. One single point can win a match... where as one point in Rugby isnt that valuable and one point in cricket is hardly even worth a clap. The valuable currency makes for feverish excitement when points are scored.
4. The relentless expantion of the football season, blanket press coverage and high power ad campaigns have raised the sports profile imeasuraby.

Football is the best sport in the world. The pace, agility, slide tackles, intensity, moves, unrivaled goals, and the roar of the crowd makes football the greatest. Plus its the best way to make $100-$200 in fantasy league at school.

They're morons, well most of them, i can understand the passion for the game but it's spoilt by the fact the players get paid rediculous amounts of money just for kicking a stupid leather ball around. Theres people much more in need of that money. It also causes riots, devision and a rise in more morons coming out the wood work. idiots. complete idiots.IT'S JUST NOT CIVILISED!

Absolutely not silly. It's the competition that gives you a rush. The professionals have much more control of the ball than us less than super stars, and that's what makes it so fascinating to watch! You should try it, it's fun!

Yes I agree but the gathering of people and the songs etc are akin to religious hysteria. It's like a faith to some.

yes, i don't see the fascination with it either, but then again, there's nothing like a good game of football. It's an alright game, but i wish ppl would stop putting so much sentimental value to it and treat it as such.........a game

I don't, it's boring. In 90 minutes of play only 5 minutes of those would be worth watching.
