I am not a softball pitcher but a softball coach, I think you will only get as much respect as you command. If you are a great team leader, you will recieve much respect from your team. However, if you think you "are the team, they will only resent your cocky attitude and will not respect you as the true leader you can be. So I guess what you should know is that respect is not deserved but rather earned. You choose.

Is softball a sport?? I thought it was a reason for drunken 30 somethings to get off their sofa. You know. Softball guy with the coaches shorts and the wrap around shades. Usually with some type of drool running down his chin from where he didn't spit that juice out properly.

Respect for tossing a softball? C'mon. That's like asking for respect for killing the most people. Hitler didn't get any respect and neither should you. Baseball is a sport for pitchers. If it were softball, then Roger Clemens and Greg Maddux would have already dominated that.
