Oo, the Bermuda Triangle!
It is possible... we could be nothing but computer simulations. Wouldn't that put a dampener on those stupid 'religious' conflicts?!
Sightings of ghosts and aliens can be explained by psychological phenomena, though... but the idea that they could be programming quirks/errors is intriguing nonetheless.
If this computer simulation analogy proves to be true, then it would seem that the programmer is getting better as humans are now generally living longer, somewhat.
It would explain why we can't make much headway into Space yet! The programmer is still working on his/her/its program! lol
Our society could be the sewer of another greater society above us!, to paraphrase Futurama's sewer mutants.

The Matrix MOVIE was just a movie dude. BUT, it was a mirror of Christianity. There are people in the world who do not know the truth about God the creator (programmer) and then there are people in the world who have found the truth and are trying to rescue others from the "warmth" of the world (the matrix). If you look at it this way then yes, there is a matrix.

No, although I do sometimes wonder if it is true and Microsoft Windows is some sick 'In Joke' amongst the agents.
I see capitalism as 'the matrix' and we are all little batteries contributing to the wealth or GDP of the country, taxed to the hilt but offered just enough freedom to keep us going.

Well Ben...........
Like in the film when morpheus showed neo the 'reality' that was the matrix, it would be such a shock to many, that they would have died at the exposure.
It could be a possibilty..............
It was like the oracle and the architect were playing a game of virtual chess, and reinventing the rules as the game progressed.
Fantastic f***ing film, with many questions that will be argued and contemplated for years !

Here's the thing.
We are developing computers that are exponential improvements on their predecessors. The detail with which we can simulate worlds in computers is pretty phenomenal already. Therefore it stands to reason that at some point in the (not to distant) future, our computer technology will become advanced enough to run entire simulations of the whole of human history, with parameters adjusted to observe the effects of subtle alterations, in order to study our own nature. As more of these computers become available and ever more powerful, many simultaneous and subtly different versions of history will be being run on computers that accurately simulate every last detail to the most trivial degree, including the most mundane aspects of a simulated complete nobody sitting in their simulated home posting simulated questions like this on a simulated message board...and so on...
So given that the technology will become available and schools of research will want to run these simulated worlds...the chances are that it has already happened and that we are indeed, just simulated people living in one of many simulated worlds running on one of many computers in any one of a number of university psychology/sociology departments, sometime in the future.
The chances against us being 'real' are astronomical.

Finding God and Jesus to be real, and all I though I knew about the world to be false, was just like the moment Neo woke up in the real world. I believe the Bible is true and that satan has hidden the truth from us.

There's no way to prove it doesn't exist, but I highly doubt it. I think that actual aliens are much more probable than the notion of a completely artificial reality. Have you been smoking too much?

There is a lot of talk about parallel worlds from scientists now. Michio Kaku's, Parallel Worlds book is a very good read. A lot of it makes some good sense
