I have watched cartoons/animas for most of my life and i have yet to see a pirate cartoon or anima, is that because there isnt one out there or there hasnt been one made just yet?

there was pirates of darkwater a few years back, One Piece is on now. It totally rocks. And i have seen an anime about a futuristic Moby Dick. but you're right. Ninjas get so much more coverage than Pirates. Why? because they are so much way better!!!

One Piece is a pirate anime which is currently airing on Cartoon Network (the dvds and manga are out here too) and there was once a cartoon called the Pirates of Dark Water (kinda of a scifi/fantasy pirate show) but I have no idea where you would find that show now. I think the Boomerang channel started showing it a bit but I know longer have that channel so *shrug* I'm not sure if they still do.

One Piece?
Arrgh, keel haul the rubber lunatic.
Pirates of Dark Water was a fantasy epic, with magical boats and blasters and such. God I hated that bird monkey thing.
But you're right ... there have been precious few good pirate treatments. Pirates occasionally show up in anime series (I think there were a few episodes of Ruroni Kenshin that had pirates). But Euro-pirates (Black Beard, Dread Roberts, Captain Kidd, etc.) are not really in the Asian tradition and haven't been given a superior treatment yet.
Maybe with the popularity of the Depp Captain Sparrow and the raft of video games coming out with Pirate themes, that will change.
We can only hope.

Pirates of Darkwater aired on Fox in the early - mid 90's. It also had a short lived comic book series from Marvel.
