What type of flowers? Do a web search for them and you should find some images of the whole plant as well as the flower. Compare the pic with the leaves you have.
Seed germination by the Gardener ranges from easy to all but impossible, some seeds require 'scarification' (nicking, softening the seed-coat allowing water to penetrate and start the growth cycle) or they may take up to 24 months (sometimes longer) to germinate. I raise orchids. From seed to flowering can take 3 to 20 years, with most of those years spent as a seed or seedling.
Good luck, persevere

I think your seeds did not grow. Yes it was probably weeds. If they were old seeds they are not good any more. but sometimes fresh ones do not grow either. Try using some rich soil do not plant to deep, and water everyday. I hope this helps. I use seeds all the time. It is trial and error. And if u do not see any sprouts in 5 to 10 days try again or buy the plant. Some times certain seeds are just to hard to start so i buy the plant.

All a weed is is a plant out of place. Before I can offer anything like a reliable answer, what was the flower you tried to plant? What about the soil and rain in your area? I pretty well lost most of my garden to slugs, but I think I managed to save some of the spinach.

You will always harvest what you planted and only if you planted the right seed, right time, with good field husbandry practices.
It is likely that what you planted did not germinate for failure to fulfil the above.
What has germinated are weeds because weeds are fast growing, are tolerant to drought conditions and other field aspects, easy to germinate etc.
The seeds you have planted have either died or time is not ready for germinating as some seeds take longer time.

Sounds like you may have planted them in full sun when they were shade plants. Or they may be a plant that should have been planted in the fall like poppies. If that is so they will probably come back next spring. What were they supposed to be?

It is hard to tell without seeing a picture of it. Has it produced any flowers?

Some flowers don't bloom the first year. Some perennials don't bloom the first year.
