We tend to have a habit of not doing so. Sad, but true. Makes me angry as an American.

I am glad somebody raised the issue of the treatment of German soldiers and the Germany people by the Allied Forces in World War Two. Because of the Holocaust, Even Germans do not dare remind the world of their suffering in the war. They were assigned the role of the bad guys in the conflict and they are therefore not entitled to the status of victims. Of course, the German People cannot be absolved of the moral repsonsiblity of tacit approval of the genocide against the Jews and other minorities but we should not forget that thousands of inncocent citizens suffered under the blitz carried out by the Allied Forces on the German cities

Listen spud sh*t happens during warfare.Andersonville during the civil war,Attila plundering and raping Rome,The Baatan death march,Nazi concentration camps, ethnic cleansing in Bosnia,or the 2.1 million slaughtered by the Kamer Rouge, after our leaving of Vietnam.I have found no credible evidence of your assertions taking place. That doesn't mean it may not have happened. if food and rations were low(what with the continent ravaged from 9 yrs. of war) I would imagine that our troops come 1st in eating and if there's not enough for the enemy, sorry. That may sound heartless but what would you do? Also the word is convention, convection is a type of oven. The Geneva Convention applies to soldiers wearing a uniform not terrorists.

We shouldn't have to abide by it unless the other country does. If you are speaking about Guantanomo Bay Prison then I ask you this, do you want to save an Iraqi from being tortured if it will get you blown up? I know I sure as hell don't because I am not an idiot. The old saying is "better him than me", I abide by that saying. If one, two, ten, etc Iraqis have to be tortured to save my life then so be it. If one, ten, twenty, etc Iraqis have to be tortured to save one American life so be it.

Entrepeneur, this is probably the most horrendous quote ive ever read on here. You would sacrifice 10 or 20 'foreigners' to save your own skin? Man, you make me sick, people like you sat on your hands while the holocaust happened, thank god you werent in power when America joined the Great war.
What he's saying is true, btw, American troops were notorious for shooting Germans out of spite. British troops were just as bad, the allies weren't as good in their treatment as many would like to think.

What do you mean,.do they use these laws? Every nation is a signitory to the geneva protocols, every nation should follow them, its not a case of wether they do or not, were meant to be bloody civilised. You know, i dont personally care if we fight Nazis or Terrorists or any manner of enemy, we should treat them with the respect we would want purselves. Its called Civilisation, i think alot of people on these boards should remember we're meant to be the 'good guys' here.

Would be nice, but wishful thinking to believe that any nation actually adheres to any "rules" when it comes to war and prisioners of war. In an ideal world there wouldn't have been a need for the Geneva convention. FYI we're not officially at WAR as Congress never declared as such...we're in an armed conflict so the Geneva convention doesn't apply. This is how we always manage to get around that agreement.

Where did you read that? It is the most offensive statement against the US Military, I have read. I have studied most of the battles & I have never read this anywhere. Shame on you as we celebrate our Independance to be so insulting.
No one was ever charged with war crimes for this supposed event much less found guilty. If you read hate sites for the US, you can find anything - stick to real sites.

We are signatory to the original geneva convention, but not the additional protocols. We may be bound by them.
