United States gasoline is actually very cheap compared to the rest of the world. Many countries recieve large amounts of revenue from taxing gasoline well into the $5.00 range. In england its about $10.00 a gallon. The story behind gas is energy is no longer the abundant, cheap substance it once was. The consumption of fuel is only going to get worst with the rising powers of China and India. The biggest reason we are paying $3.00 is frankly the United states. We are currently consuming 1/4 of the worlds output of oil. United states has a population heading to 300 million and there is over 6 Billion people. The problem energy is there are to many people drawing resources. You will find that as the population continues to increase, resources are going to become strained. The oil companies are doing what they are supposed to do- make profit.

Making oil usable is expensive but still the customers are getting scamed because if you think about it gas station owners are making millions of dollars. SO in all reality gas could go down and it would only cut the owners check a little

If you don't like the price of gas then you should find a small country which has oil and plunder it.
