No I know a young man who played in the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and made 75,000$ a year as a second violin player and he didn't start until he was 17... took him 1 year to learn, 3 to master.

You can do whatever you put your mind to.

I don't play violin but I do play a stringed instrument. I do think the earlier the better, but you can start almost anytime. They say that you're learning curve starts to fall dramatically during about mid-life so I guess as long as you have the determination and the will and, if needed, a good teacher, I'm sure you can be great. Good luck!

While certain patterns can be "burned" into the brain early (like violin playing), most people can learn complex routines until they die. Talent and practice largely determines the skill with which an instrumant can be played. In fact, by learning such patterns may help avoid Alzheimer's in later life.

I always thought it was much easiers to learn when your younger. Most of the time I prove myself wrong and I have before with other things I thought was easier when starting as a child and now I am better at it then the people that started earlier. Most people learn very easy and are willing to pratice which makes them just as good as if you started when you where younger.

If you enjoy playing the violin then it won't matter when you start because you'll keep practicing and get better at it.

no, infact, you get better faster if you start late, if you start when you are young, thats when bad habbits form plus it sounds pretty bad when you get a small violin with an unexperienceh violin player playing it

Its better to start at 3 years old, but I started in 6th grade, and im pretty darn good. It depends if you focus and pay attention. Any year is good. Just practice every day and you'll get better.

The earlier the better, your body is more limber and flexible the younger you are and will maintain that the longer you play.
