I would say from the below article that the jury is still out. Certainly "home" dyeing is not a great idea it sounds like. Read and make up your own mind.
P.S. Britney Spears is now a brunette

I'm 6 months pregnant and I dyed my hair a few months ago. I made an educated decision to do so and I don't regret it at all. BTW, Britney is a pretty stupid but not because she dyed her hair.

Dying your hair actually does hurt your baby because it has chemicals and when your finish with your hair some chemicals go deeper and since it burns it might get intensely itchy the more chemical more danger it also gets through your system and sometimes where the baby is held and effects happen to your baby after birth or later in life it might trigger depends how much color you put in your hair, also highlights are'nt so harmfull to your baby.

some medical doctors say no to coloring your hair on a similar time as pregnant.. I have no thought why yet they must have their reasons. i'm a hairdresser of 23 yrs and get this question asked to me each and all of the time. I cant see how colour gets via your bloodstream and result the toddler in any respect. Ask your dr. and spot what he/she says approximately it. I extremely have coloured many pregnant womens hair and their toddlers have all grew to become out nice.

It cannot hurt the baby. The reason they like to avoid coloring and perming during pregnancy is because it doesnt take well or hold in the hair. Thats the only reason.

i don't know if its true or not... but i heard that breathing in the chemicals from hair can hurt ur baby, just like smoking cigarettes while ur pregnant can... some baby's come out just fine when mothers smoke while there pregnant, and some baby's come out with Asama... i would think that would be the same as hair dye!

My OB said it was okay after the 12th week.
I assume that the concern is the fumes from the coloring, *not* the hair or skin exsposure. I colored my hair once during my first pregnancy, at about 6 weeks (we were having the 2nd half of our wedding, and I really didn't want my roots showing).

Its not fully known what dyeing your hair can do to the baby, it is known though that because of your hormones, the dye might not react well with your hair and your hair color might not come out the way you want it.

Hair dye does not hurt babies. I have already had four kids and I dyed my hair through all of them. You just do it in a well ventillated room

I'm not sure if it's true. Some of my friends got highlights when they were pregnant and it didn't hurt. I have heard to stay away from perming, it wouldn't hold anyway.
I waited till after to do anything, but that's just me!!!!
