That was a great end scene in MIB. According to string theory, size is as slippery as time. That the laws of physics are exactly the same in a universe the reciprocal size of ours (1 divided by 28 billion light years). It depends on what kind of "strings" (don't ask) you use to measure with. This is about where I just don't get string theory anymore, but maybe if I re-read Brian Greene's book, The Elegant Universe, for the 50th time, I'll understand it a little better. Dimensions is a long discussion. Suffice it to say that math has no problem working in more dimensions than four (3 dimensions plus time). The theory is that there are another seven dimensions curled up smaller than a million billion trillionth of the width of an atomic nucleus, in a 10 dimensional shape called a Kalabi-Yau shape (named after those mathematicians). Figuring out what kind of shape that would be is the subject matter of string theory calculations. The idea is that it is exactly those shapes that determine how "strings" will vibrate through and around them, that determine the properties of subatomic particles, like quarks, photons, neutrinos, electrons, and the theoretical "graviton." Of course, we're nowhere near the technology of detecting something that small. You'd need a linear accelerator (atom smasher) as long as the universe is large just to have a shot at it. So there might also be little green men living on planets even smaller than that. Time will tell if superstring theory comes up with anything that can actually be tested in a laboratory. It's an elegant theory nevertheless, and it's been said that some mathematicians couldn't care less if it's correct or not, its equations are so beautiful. Anyway, it's a very long discussion. I recommend the book.

There are diverse theories. some imagine that the universe will proceed increasing infinitely. The potential density will contiue to shrink because the universe expands. notwithstanding, there is purely no longer an potential vacuum only a extra diffuse spreading of the present potential. yet another idea signifies that the universe will boost to a particular decrease and then commence to contract onto itself, like a heartbeat. this would deliver about a sparkling 'huge bang' because the universe will change into highly small.

We probably will never know if our universe has an end. The current 'end' of the observable universe is a field of expanding background radiation that was created shortly after the big bang. Is this radiation the limit of the universe, or just a barrier we have been unable to see past? That's an impossible question to answer right now.

I think the universe sphere shaped sponge, very porous and it separates existance from non-existance, nothing can travel beyong it's boundaries as the universe has a gravitational field of it's own pulling all things somewhat togheter but they're moving and revolving inside like fluids. So nothing outside the universe could exist and the universe is in the middle of everything (supported by three elephants on top of a turtle of course, just a joke)

Our Universe is thought to be 28 billion light years across. Our Universe is expanding at the speed of light into an infinite vacuum. It is interesting to think that there could be more Universes out there. At present we only know of 4 dimensions. Time is the 4 th dimension.

Science is to learn more n more bout less n less.
The concept of spirituality can best answer your question. The more we know the more u realise is that we know less.
The universe is ever expanding and then contracting into nothingness.Like the big bang when something came out of nothing there is an equally opposite phenomena where something goes back into nothing,we call this a black hole. everything just disappears into it without a trace.
US army planes have disappeared without a trace in specific areas not once but every time they travel into that area they just go vanish.Ships have disappeared without a trace in the Bermuda triangle, off the US coast.Once u understand the black hole u understand that exactly the opposite also exists dats our universe and it keeps moving in cycles of expansion and contraction.
Our life is similarly a combination of our our consciousness (being) and of our non being.
when we die death does not come from outside but our being goes into a non being i.e. into our own black hole;this black hole exists in ourself about an inch or two beneath our navel and we call it the Hara. The japanese have perfected the art of locating it and when they commit suicide they do it at that specific spot by driving in a sharp knife.....By this act our being goes into a non being bringing what we call death. This is called Harakiri. This death process is painless and bloodless.
ourself is a microcosm of the universe which is similar and consists of being and non being of expansion and contraction

The universe is curved. There is no length or height, up or down, east or west, north or south. Steven Hawking believes the universe had no beginning and will have no end. It simply is. We with our finite minds cannot fathom the infinite no matter how hard we try. So after all is said and done we realize God is the beginning and the end. He even said so in the Bible. He said he is the alpha and omega, the beginning and the end.

I've held the MIB oppinion since long before the movie.
Look at our universe; At the smallest level, an atom is a bunch of crap in the middle with stuff spinning around it.
Our solar system is a bunch of crap (sun) in the middle with stuff (planets, asteroids, etc) spinning around it.
The galaxy is a bunch of crap (galactic core, thorized to be a giant black hole) in the middle with stuff (stars, solar systems, etc) spinning around it.
One of the popular theories of the Universe now says that galaxies are arranged as "strings and voids." If you look at the diagram of the known universe, it appears to be part of something larger.
My belief is the atom is not the smallest particle there is. I believe what we know to be the universe is not the largest (particle?) there is.
I also believe that looking for life on other planets is a waste of time. There is one life form per scale.
I am an educated man, and this is my only "crack-pot" theory...but it just seems to make sense to me. So what if I sound totally insane!!

Since no one knows how big our universe is, what we can do is
watch what happens at the end of next century. In my opinion our
universe is a triangle and we are situated at the middle of the base and see things getting away from us, as this two are pulling
away the other angle is closing on us. Astronomers should really
focus their aspirations at one part of the universe which is closing on us.

The universe is of finite size, but unbounded: it doesn't have an edge. You can look in any direction, and at about 13.6 billion light years distance encounter the background radiation. But no matter where you go, or how fast, you will always have observable universe before you and behind you -- but not the same universe as where you began.
