I agree with you. The three point shot needs to go. The main objective in basketball is to work the ball around for the highest percentage shot. The players today have gotten away from this.

Even Larry Bird was not a fan of the three point shot, though he used it frequently. He believed that if you were up by two at the end of the game, you should not lose because of one shot. But Bird only used it in certain circumstances, not throwing up three's all the time!

In fact, Bird never shot more than 237 three's in one season. Today, you have several players shooting more than 400 three's every season. That's why shooting percentages are down.

When the three point shot was introduced in 79-80, the hope was that scoring would go up and make the game more exciting. The exact opposite has happened. In 78-79 the year before the three pointer, the average points per game was 110. In 1979-80 the first year of the three it was 109. Last year the average points per game was "97" ! That's over a 10% DECREASE!!

Lets get back to ball movement, passing, lay ups on fast breaks, and getting the ball down low. One of the things that irritates me is when , a team comes down on a 3 on 1 break, and a guy, instead of going for an easy layup, pulls up a three and misses. STUPID!!

BTW... We can keep the long distance shootout at the all star weekend for all of you three point fans!

It is adds an interesting twist to the game. If u constantly see pic and roll, pick and roll, pick and roll, what fun is that? The game becomes boring after a while. Sure NBA play as make it a little interesting with the way they drive down the lane, but the 3 point shot adds a little more flavor to the game.

if anything they should make a 4 point shot. The three point shot a whole different element to the game. It just makes it more interesting. Also it makes u work harder on threes. It makes the crowd come out of thier seats and when ur fouled and u make the three. Thier is no bigger shout than dat. It makes it harder for teams to catch up when they atre down by big dificites. Itz doesnt seem like basketball withoguth dat 3.

It is the 3 point shot that makes close games exciting.....if you recall the one made by Raja Bell in the Phoenix/La Lakers series...it was the one play that probably saved the series for the suns,,,it is also a crucial element in giving teams a chance from catching up after going behind with a big deficit....ruin the game?...cant imagine the game without it now

While we're at it, let's minimalize the accomplishments of Larry Bird, Reggie Miller, and Chris Mullin---guys who could hit the three at will. Also, imagine the games that were won with the three. The last one that I could remember was Paxson hitting one so the Bulls could win a championship. In fact, if you ask me, the 3 pointer is a lost are in the NBA. Kids want to dunk now. I think it's too bad. The 3 adds another dimmension to the great sport.

A three point shot. If you can make it from that range they gotta add on something special... The three point shot is just another play that makes the game better. And why don't you want an answer of one point differential? Because you know it's true.

That makes no experience. that is not any longer like the product is suffering because of a lack of money. that should be better than evidenced by utilizing the very incontrovertible reality that Linda McMahon became able to spend $50 million (i imagine) on a senate marketing campaign.

People would just pack in the lane making the pick and roll worthless. We need the three to give gaurds a chance to scream in the lane and dish it out..

there has to be 3 pters , 3pters make players boost their skill for the 1 extra point that can tie or win a game. 3pters take alot of skill to make in and thats why they have it. so the nba players can boost their skill and make a far range shot
