you've got me. it's like anything, a new peice of furniture or a new car. i personally would run in to a burning house to save my cats and die trying. i could never live with myself if something happened to them anyway so i might as well die trying. they are gods creatures given to the earth and us to love and protect and care for. they love us back unconditionally and many repay that pure love with cruelty. just let me see someone harming an animal.(hy ya! carate chop to the windpipe!) i am a very caring kind person, but i can be your wrost enemy if i see animal abuse.
it makes me sick so see how people regard animals as throw away and they don't have feelings like us. well they bleed if pricked and they yell when hurt, they pine when sad, they smile and play when happy and content. they are full of feeling and i find them more human than most humans. i hate to hear someone say, "he acted like an animal", that's a pure insult to animals. they atleast act from instinct humans cannot say that, human act from free choice which is worse than anything any animal could ever dream up. how we ended up on the top of the food chain is beyond me.

Too many people buy animals on impulse....and then later realize they didn't really want that animal. The smart thing to do, would to re-home the animal somewhere where he/she is wanted, but some people end up just neglecting the animal instead, and thinking of the animal as a burden.

People that care less about animals wouldn't own them. They may say they don't care, but if they really didn't care about animals, they wouldn't have one of their own!
