~When, today? Which "Eskimos", the ones living in cities and towns with all the ammenities of modern society, or the ones living in the tundra with little or no contact with the outside world. Pure blooded or cross-bred with other ethnic groups? Alaskan Inupiak? North American Inuits? Siberian Yuvik? Greenland Kalaallit? Canadian Inuvialiut? Their cousins, the Scandanavian Sami's. Since you refer to "American", I assume you are not interested in the Siberinians, Scandanavians, Greenlanders, or, probably, Canadians. That would, I suppose, limit the question to the Inupiak and Yupik, unless one subscribes to the theory that the Yupik, not being descended from the Thule, should be excluded. On the other hand, The Yupik prefer to be called "Eskimo" and not Inuit, which would eliminate the Inupiak from your querry and focus it on the Yupik. Since the Inuit consider the term "Eskimo" to be degrogotory, I suppose the Yupik would be the better focus of the answer. In any case, the question is devoid of sufficient detail to give any answer other than, the life expectancy is the span of time, on the average, between birth and death.
