It is a 'geven' that whites can be racist.
I have run ito times where I have been the 'victim' (I use that word very loosely) of racism, too.
I had a job with a black supervisor. He constantly gavce the easy jobs to two black girls and then the next easiest job to black guys and so on until the hardest jobs were ALWAYS given to whites and the 'easiest' hard jobs went to white girls.
I reported this as both racism and sexual harrassment
The supervisor came out the next day and informed everyone of the allegations.
at this point EVERY black said racism?
followed by comments like "racist against who? the foreman ain't white!"
and even a few "what? white guys afraid to work?" type comments
the reaction basically that it wasn't even POSSIBLE for blacks to be racist!

so how can it be called racism if htese actions are happening to the blacks?

I only use the black/white example is because it is the one most often heard of.
But I feel this is applicable to all ethnicities!

Yes, they can be. Some would think they have reason to be because of the way they were treated in the past. They have been able to accomplish so much now that they put themselves in bad positions not whites. There are still some racist whites here today, but most people let that die after the Civil war

I am mixed race. My mum being white and my dad being black. I have experienced racism from both parties.

However I wouldn't pinpoint just black people though. ANYONE no matter what colour, gender, sexuality or age one is can be racist. Some people are even prejudice towards their own.

I have read some of the previous answers and I disagree that black people are the most racist people out there. I think that alone is a prejudice remark and I really despise comments such as those.

The reason why the reaction is so shocking for someone who is black to be racist is because of the slavery period and the fact that the government was not willing to give black people equal opportunities.

The best advice I could give you is not to let racism push you out of your job. You have as much right to work there as anybody else. Just a keep a diary of any behaviour you feel that should not be tolerated and good luck!

Racism exists within all nationalities and races. You don't have to be a certain color to be a victim of racism, nor to be a racist.

For a black person to make the remarks which you stated simply shows how people are stereo-typed in the world. Blacks are typically thought to be uneducated and lazy, basically only procreating to obtain a welfare check. We know that this is not true as there are many black people who hold very important jobs and work very hard. However, in this case, it was reversed when stated "The foreman ain't white" and "What, white guys afraid to work?" If you see a muslim, they are typically called towel heads and everyone is afraid they will blow something up. People who are gay are treated differently for their sexual preferences, yet how many people do you think you bump into in the mall who are gay? It's never ending, but I'm sure you get what I'm saying.

Racism is everywhere and it is within everyone, the question is, can people supress racism enough to see people for their true selves, their abilities and respect their opinions, beliefs and religion and not pass judgement on what you see on the outside first, which is only their true color?

Racism requires power. If an individual holds power, and uses race as a deciding factor in quality of assignments granted at work, that is racism. It's wrong. It's unfortunate that this happened to you. It does, however, point out to you what minorities in this country have dealt with for a very long time. Best to find a different job and keep in mind the lesson learned, that people of all walks of life, of all races and genders and sexual preferences and religions and every other classification they throw themselves into these days, basically suck.

Racism is a great cop-out. I'm a white Anglo-Saxon Protestant whose ancestors were enslaved by the Romans for hundreds of years. And it happened for hundreds of years before there were black slaves in Europe. It's even worse for me because the Romans never freed us. So, naturally the Romans are the cause of all my problems, and I hate Italians.

Hold it..........just found out the Greeks enslaved us too.

Same reason so many black people (not all, thank goodness) are racists.

Everyone is racist to some extent. Some black people think that only whites can be racist since it was some white Americans that had black slaves hundreds of years ago. Other black people think it ok to treat whites like that since blacks were treated like that for years. The gist of it is thatBlack people refust to let slavery go, and blame all whites for what some did hundreds of years ago. It doesn't matter to them where you are from, or if your family had slaves, or were part of the system that freed slaves. all whites are slave owners in their eyes. Sadly, that still keeps them slaves.

this has been asked so many times on here . isn't it interesting how the blacks have events that are ALL black. like Black beauty pageants and other events. but if whites specifically say white then we are racist?? yet they get a free pass.. i mean Even in the regular beauty pageants you Will see black women .. but they have to have their own. exclusive. events. but again that is not racist right?? OK. its called double standard.. and some will fall back on . we have been oppressed so long that we deserve this. BS.. that is a load of crap. just an excuse for double standards.

the ONLY difference is skin color. in the general sense after that personal morals/values will determine other aspects of their violence towards the ones they hate. but to be honest hate is hate; no form of it should be accepted. And i know of some racists/racist sites that condone harm to children on the sole basis of skin color. The groups have been black and white groups i mean i know it sounds odd to say lack of morals condones killing of innocent people for stupid reasons, especially since to be racist means you lack some morals already, BUT it is true that those with moral convictions (black and white) will not do some of the more heinous things.

I and 24 others are in the process of suing the black bosses for discrimination. Of a staff of about 120 over 30% of the staff is gone, no black person has been fired for anything, only white. It would be hard to prove discrimination but fortunately in trying to cover themselves they made a lot of errors. I am and have always been opposed to discrimination, but these fools are gonna give me a lot of money. So hey hey, thanks for the memories, and the blatant racism.

yes .....blacks can be racists just like everyone else here on this earth....I'm black and I've said racists comments like everybody else...we are all racist to some degree

but u know what i hate..why is it that when we talk about race people just automatically assume that is white vs black..does anyone not understand that there is a lot more racism going on in other cultures as well?....or is this just an American thing?..

for the life of me I dont understand why race is only referred to as white vs black...all one has to do is look at IRAQ and you can see the other racism that is going on over there...Iranians vs Palestinians, even Chinese vs Japanese,,,etc etc...everything is not just black and white people...jeez......there are "gray areas" too....
