I have changed the plugs, wires and fuel filter, and it still idles like a tractor. What else could it be? Thank you

Any number of things. Take it to a trustworthy mechanic.

If the engine is showing a trouble code, you can buy a GM code reader for about $15, and find out the answer for yourself, but from my experience a rough idle is sometimes linked to the oxygen sensor. If the sensor is bad, it will give the engine management computer a bad signal, therefore throwing off the overall performance of the engine, resulting in bad idle, poor throttle response, and poor gas mileage.

Here are some possible causes:

1. Engine timing off
2. Clogged injector or injectors
3. Oxygen sensor
3. Mass airflow sensor
4. EGR valve if it has one.

Any of these things can cause the rough idle. I'd check them, in order. I'd run a couple of bottles of injector cleaner through it just in case it's #2.

Hope this helped.

did ya ever think "hey, maybe the computer codes may tell me something?" or you could start messing with stuff like mandy says.....idler pulley....good luck with that!!!
....an idler pulley has absolutly nothing at all to do with the engine idling....it is a pulley that does not drive a componet...thus idler pulley...

Have the coil packs checked

your idler pully might be bad or tighten your idle screw on your throttle body.
