Works for me. It's nice that you're even thinking about it. Most people don't, and he wouldn't expect it, so just a nice word of thanks from the "kids" would be enough. It would be cute to write it "from" the pets. :)

Saying something about "Thank you for all the time and care that you have give my family's animals over the years." Mention something that he did that was awesome "We still talk about the time that you did emergency surgery on Fido when his stomach flipped over" or something.

Thanks for takeing care of my pup. He is now able to keep his fluff. Atleast he did not have to pee in a cup. He now goes Yup Yup!
