Pot is just as much as a gateway drug as Caffine, or nicotine... The only reason some people try smoking pot and they go on to harder drugs, is because after they try pot, they realize that the harmful effects of it have been way exaggerated, so they may suspect that the harmful effects of drugs that are more dangerous may not be that bad..

ive been smokin pot for13 years now. im not a stoner, im very clean, work two jobs, am successful, own a home, and a new car, never have i ever tried or wanted to try any other drug and never will. but the reason it is a gateway drug is because you smoke pot and like the high then they find other ways to get high. hence gateway. no it shouldnt be legalized, to many crooked politicians, and the mafia has stake in the tobacco ind. so they would lose alot of money. etc.

I know many people over 40 that have smoked pot for over 20 years and have never tried or desired any other drugs. So I would say that the answer to your question would be a definate "NO".

Your question is based on a faulty understanding of the term, "gateway drug".

That term means that using one drug leads invariably to others. The availability of pot has nothing to do with its intrinsic dangers, namely, leading people to try even stronger, more dangerous drugs.

I read somewhere that more kids are going straight to the harder drugs and completely bypassing weed.

Myself, I'm guilty in the past of smoking weed, but the only other "drug" I've had is alcohol and caffeine. Unless you count chocolate...
