Just fashion. There's really no other reasons for it. Hair is not dirty when you wash them.

Like you said, you are ONLY talking about legs and armpits, the fact that you shave them or not doesn't affect your hygiene. Unless you wash carefully all the time.So I think they do it for FASHION. Not in the sense that"omg! everyone is shaving their armpits and legs! Im gonna shave them too!" they shave them because they want to wear skirts and shirts and they dont want people to see hairy legs and armpits which is disgusting. I dont kow why some guys dont shave their armpits and legs. It looks gross.

Legs is definitely all for fashion; I don't bother if I can avoid it. Armpits, however, I'll say are for hygiene. All that hair traps sweat and God knows what else and it's gross. I wish more guys would take a page out of our book and shave their pits!

You should find a woman who does not shave her legs or armpits and ask the same question. And do it in person, face to face, her response will make for interesting conversation.
Women who shave do it for fashion and keeping their bodies groomed (hygiene).

Both...I mean hairy armpits trap bacteria that can smell bad when wet with sweat but it is also fashionable, The hair must serve some purpose if it is there in the first place...So yeah, I say both...But fashion more for legs and hygiene more on the underarms!

Fashion and I guess "Society" plays a huge role. We've grown up seeing mom shave. For men, it's not very attractive to see hair hanging in your armpits or to run their hands up your legs and have sandpaper legs or hair! I don't believe that hygiene has anything to do with it.

Depends on the woman!! Some definately do it for fashion but then most of them probably wax rather than shave but whatever. I don't really understand the whole hygiene perspective, men don't do either (usually) and that doesn't mean that they have horrible hygiene. I think most women do it because of the social standard of women having to always look beautiful and flawless.

Western women shave because there mothers teach them to but believe me most us us think its a pain in the ***. The pits I would say hygiene but the legs that is a never ending battle! Be happy you only have to shave your face.

It's a matter of both. Ever noticed how a women can work in the sun all day and still not smell as bad as her male counterpart? And pit and leg hair just doesn't go very well with a mini skirt and tank top.

Hmmm i guess it is so i don't look bad wwhich i guess is fashion wow i never thought of that. hmmm. but yeah i never really knew the exact reason i shave my legs but now that i think of it it is for looks which would be fashion. so that makes sense. but now that i know not like im gonna stop cuz i am not im gonna keep on shaving cuz i don't know if a guy will wanna see hairy legs on a girl thats not for girls guys are suppose to be hairier than girls. i guess... good question.
some girls are saying guys need to shave arms and legs too. but nooo that is not right. even if they like guys too. it still ain't right. ughh gross.
