That's a very difficult question because there are so many different kinds of books which I love for different reasons. But if I had to boil it down to one book and one book only, it would have to be the Bible.

For Whom the Bell Tolls - Ernest Hemingway
The Wishing Box - Dashka Slater
The Stones for Ibarra - Harriet Doerr
The Thin Man - Dashell Hammit
In Cold Blood - Truman Capote
and many others. I should add Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, and Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen.

There are soooo many, but to shorten it a bit, I'd have to say: A Separate Peace by John Knowles, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (I know, it's like an epidemic), A Tale of Two Cities (I think I cried), Les Miserables (definitely cried), A Walk to Remember, The Inferno by Dante, and so many more! I love to read, can you tell I'm an English major?

Katherine by Anya Seton
It's a story of forbidden love in medieval England between a prince and a poor herald's daughter. This story is all the more amazing because it's about a real historical couple that have a very important place in English history.

As a child, I had two favorite books. "The Little House" by Virginia Lee Burton and
"Greensleeves" by Eloise Jarvis McGraw.
I also like Laura Ingall Wilder's books.
Now, as an adult, I have favorite authors,
but you're gonna make me choose a favorite book, huh? (g)
